Hollands seems to be the Suns player most likely to be moved on to help Gold Coast get some of the points they need for their academy picks (Flanders very close to re-signing apparently, expect announcement next week about Neddy)
I’m not sure Hollands is worth that much. 14 games after 3 years.

Regardless GC don’t have to trade pick 4, they already have the points or are very close to having all the points for their academy players.

Just in the scenario above trading it for a future 1st then GC suddenly don’t have the points, they’d be roughly 1400 short. Then they are scrambling to find points. I’m not sure they’ll trade the pick and leave then so far off points wise

If the roos do get pick 2 compensation for McKay that suns pick doesn't look as attractive for potential suitors.

That pick will in all likelihood be pick 5 if results go as expected this week & after the compensation for McKay becomes pick 6.

Clearly a gap in the draft after the top 5 which is Reid Curtin Duursma McKercher & Watson.

All of a sudden that suns pick will likely not get you one of those names.
O’Connor seems to be moving up a few spots on a lot of boards - or at least being discussed as potentially of more interest than a few months ago.

Some clubs would be happy to move up for Caddy as well after some good late showings.

But yes I agree that a compo pick at #2 for North could punish GC harder than most.

If Sanders aint an NGA

Then him and Caddy are right with that group especially if you want a tall forward

He was injured the whole first year after doing his ACL late in draft year. So it's really on 2 years of play.

Still has plenty of potential to go on and be a good player.
There were definitely positive signs when he came into the team in late 2022, but this year has just been awful on all fronts.

Not sure what he would be worth.
Think the suns would be happy to get a pick in the 20's if possible.

Hard to get a 2nd rounder for a player being actively shoved out the door.

Maybe GC flick us a future 2nd or 3rd in that as a balance out..but I'd do it as we have young power forward Welsh (son of Scott Welsh) coming through next year and he is - early days I know - a possible top 5 pick..along with the younger Michalanney

Problem you have is we have multiple buyers wanting the pick.

Someone will pay overs to get it as they desperately want one of the top 5 kids.

Going to be nothing overly balanced about it.

True

However the offer I spitballed was not a lowball offer..it would have to be a serious swag of picks to beat it
A club like North or Hawthorn offering F1 is surely a better deal. If either we're to make that offer.

Even essendon or Freo maybe.

Yeah - North would be taking a big gamble if they did as that could again be pick 1 next year. The hawks, Freo and Essendon less so and they might all do better than we do so no real advantage of them over us there

Fair enough. I find Adelaide and Freo so hard to pick down. Huge talent, huge holes. I can see a club like yours (or thr purple boys) coming 6th or 16th next year (no offence meant).

I don't mind us trading future picks this year for a couple of reasons. First, next years draft looks like it is likely to be all mids at the top end and we don't need any more. Second, everyone expects us to suck again next year so we should get significantly more for our F1 than everyone else - except WC. The risk is really on the team we trade it to in that it could lose a lot more value than it could gain.

I think the Dees are the most likely club to land GCS first rounder unless they can some how push up the draft board and get pick 2.

The Dees have been aggressive in using the futures market in the past, have the draft picks to make it work (1x late first rounder, 2x second rounders and 1x future first rounder) and are not expected to make many list changes.

What of the above combo do you think would tempt the Suns?

I expect all four of those picks will be on the table and the Dees might get a future second round pick back. But the ultimate price will depend on the auction.

All I was saying is that the Dees will offer a strong bid and seem best placed.

If I were the Suns, I would be trying to trade up to 2 and go into deficit if at all possible.

You would have to think the Suns would be listening to that offer as we have more likely too 10 academy players coming through next year

If we stay last then I’m threatening to bid on Walter at 1 unless a deal can be done for the GC first. If it can then we don’t bid at 1 or the compo Pick of Mckay at 2.
I'd call your bluff on that. No way North want to finish last 3 years in a row and end up without a pick 1 from that on their list.

And after Clarko's carry on consider reporting North for draft tampering tbh.

Walter is getting bid on at 1 or 2 anyway, the Suns have banked the points knowing this, why would the Suns deal pick 4-5 to prevent a bid that would likely come after your pick/s to save a few hundred points?
