Davis was one of our best players in our last GF appearance.
His direct opponent kicked the first two goals of the game. I thought t was a defenders job to shut them down, first and foremost?

Outside, Martin, Rance and maybe Cotchin, there isn’t one other player I would want in the Pies team.

That's ridiculous. No team is full of players the quality of Martin, Rance and Cotchin.

And you're seriously saying you wouldn't take players like Houli, Astbury, Riewoldt, Vlastuin, Prestia and Caddy over players like Aish, Fasolo, Blair, Mayne, Greenwood, Thomas, Broomhead, Ramsay, Smith and Oxley?

Come on...

Not a single injury on their list, got the rub of the green from the umps when it counted, opposition hit with injuries prior to and on the day... and a home Grand Final to boot.

No matter how good you are Lady Luck still decides your fate and you need almost everything to go right to win a flag.

Unless you barracked for a Richmond, this finals series was as uninspiring as any if I can recall, no tight matches except port/wc, few major highlights and clean passages of play. I must add the crouch bros thou they rack up possessions are about as distinctive as the moon on a cloudy day and don't really break games apart.

Don't get me wrong I'm happy that the Tigers have broken their premiership drought but like the Dogs last year I can't see them sustaining this level of output next year. Sydney/Geelong/Adelaide/GWS are superior teams but like the Dogs before them Richmond had the best September campaign on the back of good coaching, manic pressure and a solid group of players (with few stars) sticking to a game plan that holds up in finals.

As others have mentioned they had a great run with injuries and finishing 13th (bottom 6) in 2016 they had a good draw. 3 finals in Victoria (2 against interstaters) also helped. It will be interesting to see how they back up it up as the hunted. I don't think their list is that much more superior than ours. In such an even competition it is not out of the question, with the softer bottom 6 draw and a good run with injuries, that we couldn't quickly push back up the ladder in 2018 via the natural improvement of our young talent.

I cant see the tigers going back to back with the same formula. They need another big forward.

Ultimately the game was lost/won in the second quarter and a few amateur moments to start and close that quarter stand out to me as shaping the outcome against Adelaide.

1. Start of second quarter Lynch doesn't go back far enough meaning he gets to close to the man on the mark when kicking on goal. This causes him to miss a very getable goal. A goal would have seen crows out to a 17 point margin and continuing their first quarter momentum. Instead they lead by 12.

2. Richmond take the footy down the other end where the crows ultimately fail to man the goal line allowing a mistimed Riewoldt snapped set shot to sail through for a goal just half a metre above the ground. Riewoldt's goal sees the tigers cut the margin to 6 points. With the Lynch miss above these two amateur moments amount to your classic 11 point turnaround.

3. The non-free to Betts at the end of the second quarter. After the tigers had kicked two in a row to take the lead and gain a 10 point margin Betts was clearly held trying to run onto a loose footy in the goal square. Had the free been paid the margin would have been cut to 4 points, but importantly the tigers momentum would have been halted somewhat going into the break. Instead the tigers enter half time 9 points up and full of run.

Pretty average game - like most of the finals.

I thought it was pretty obvious at half time what was going to happen. Richmond had been panicked and awful with the ball when they went forward while Adelaide were super clean , albeit less often , when going forward.

The fact that Richmond were still in front said to me that they wanted it much more.

Nobody on that ground starred and for the most part the big names went missing . I would've given the NS Medal to Houli.

As you might expect the Adelaide GF thread has a lot of complaining about home ground advantage for Richmond with lots of commiserating from Geelong, WestCoast etc....supporters.

They do have a point but would it be reasonable to suggest that it's no coincidence that the Top 8 is chock-a-block with teams with a genuine home ground advantage vs MCG "tenants"? If so then I think it more than evens out.

What happened at the Holden Centre? Haven't seen anything reported in the media this morning.

Of Course as the Media would love this.:mad:

Pies fan did that they be asking them to be Hung and be front page news

That was kind of implied in my question - there has been absolutely nothing reported on this so far and yet if it was Collingwood supporters or even the merest hint of a link to Collingwood ... well, we all know what would follow.

Richmond have Easily the Worst Supporters by that Far it's not Funny

We don't know it was Richmond fans, could be one of our own?

Anyway, hopefully we have cameras around the premises and time will tell.
