If we'd played the Geelong we saw yesterday, or something close to it, I feel confident that they would have made it a miserable day for us.

We have indeed come close to them. We went to a higher level in doing so, but Geelong kicked into an even higher gear against the Swans.

Ordinary game, very good team.

The Swans did not play like a GF team, in fact they offerred their worst performance in decades.

Collingwood might have lost against the Cats yesterday but it wouldn't have been such a non-contest.

Geelong were very good but the Swans were woefully, pathetically, inept. North with Stephenson in the full-back would have given the cats a better run.

Stevo lining up on Tom Hawkins. Oh what a spectacle.

They looked like they were out of gas after we worked them over in the last quarter.

We might just have dodged a bullet by finishing where we did. They had enough depth not to risk Holmes - Cox, Maynard, Mihocek under a cloud?

Bring on 2023

Well living overseas and not paying attention, I convinced myself the GF was Sunday, so Saturday night for me. This morning to my surprise when I googled what time it would be, it was over.

Saw the margin and am glad I didn't bother. It sounds like very little redeeming took place, unless you like Geelong, which other than watching them hoping a few will wrap their spines around a goalpost or something, I don't.

The only nice thing I can say is an old friend of mine (not in contact anymore) played for Geelong (and the pies coincidentally) and his kids are big Geelong fans, so I'm happy that they'd be happy.
Steinfort?

I walked into last weeks prelim expecting the winner of the GF to come out of Collingwood v Sydney

After the game I didn’t expect Sydney to get close (not as bad as it turned out).

They kicked 3.4 in the second half against us. And no need to get into it but over half of that score was gifted to them.

The Swans have been genuinely smashed for 6 and a half quarters straight.

With that said - if Collingwood made the GF and Geelong played the way they did as Collingwood fans you would tip your hat off to them this time because we wouldn’t be winning. I’m ok with a loss if it comes down to the better side on the day winning.

I had a Cats supporter say we were the team to beat many weeks ago.
I disagreed pointing out they were bigger, stronger and didn’t appear to have a a weakness.
The fact we got so close to them is a credit to us.
They gleaned a lot from playing us in the first final.
They were ready for the Sydney pressure and played like us with fast ball movement.
Well played Cats.
The Cats were Good but Sydney were cooked you could tell that by their last qtr v us, they were gone before they started and what Sydney pressure are we talking about it was non existent yesterday. The Cats beat us by a goal and it took them until the last minute to do so and as for the Bloods it is a pity they did not show us such S--- last week and then we may have seen how good the Cats really are big bodies or not we could have run them off their legs.

I still think we had 1 more game in us that is what pisses me off we were the FITTEST team in it bar no one,Sydney squeaked past us and were never going to get near the Cats.

Yeah... I reckon we were close to cooked ourselves. We were pretty banged up

the cold realisation of no AFL has suddenly hit this morning. It's one of the terrible times in the year. I'm not looking forward to the coming weeks. It's cold comfort that the weather is improving but I'll have to find other things to bring meaning to my life.

I did try other sports on Kayo... I even watching the english women's cricket team for 5 minutes until I realised there was a problem. I watched emma radacanu and that seemed to help but she got injured. The cricket overall is mostly useless. The world cup of whatever might spark a bit of interest but I'll probably have to wait until the semi final stage.

The boxing is usually good but there's too many joke ripoffs like the one last weekend.

There's always the gardening I suppose. I could turn to drinking. The choices arent inspiring.

Pies will have to learn not to give away 4 goal leads or head starts if they are to become a serious team. More often than not they made it harder for themselves which in turn might affect how cooked they ended up.

On to 2023!

as a pies fan theres not much interest in footy today....but there are some nuggets. The premiership medal being stolen was a good news story. The news that the chad....the wormer....was devastated. I didnt read the article as I couldnt be bothered, but it's obvious that he's feeling bad for knocking the pies out. Its nice if he feels sorry. So there are some worthwhile stories around..

One small thing I'll give Geelong is Chris Scott acknowledged COVID, gave a humble victory speech, and Selwood treated the Auskickers nicely.

That's it.

Selwood was ducking all game but they were winning that contest any day of the week. Chad Warner and Robbie Fox were the only Swans who bothered showing up. The rest were, um, absent.

That’s his ( and Brads ) St Kevin’s text book scripting. The guys were thugs and learnt **** all with daddy’s & mummy’s money!

Undeserved in everything that comes there way.

As I posted Sydney played their GF against us, when we were playing all those close matches we were very battle hardened and coming up next week every week thanks to mr Wade. Miochek has been banged up for mths now and Maynard,Cameron and Cox picked up injuries in the final series,Geelong played their GF against us were able to squeaked home then were in cruise mode they are not 14 gls better than us and that is they were frighten of us, I looked at their board often in the last part and they were bricking it believe me. Before 22 started would I have been happy with 3rd you better believe it but when I look at yesterday it is a killer to think we were very close to winning it all.

Did Dusty pick up his car from the G from a few years back? lol

Bloody hilarious hearing swans fans thinking the gf loss won’t hurt em mentally, everytime they play at the mcg next year they’ll remember it
