I've learnt something - Melbourne in September is not a great place of you have allergies.

Mate, been a shocking start to the hayfever season here. I looked like the elephant man this morning. Hoping it settles before I head off to the women's so it doesn't look like I've been crying all night!

He was out of contract and wanted to return to Victoria, not sure we were able to keep him regardless.

My memory was that he was happy to stay but also volunteered to be traded for draft capital to help the rebuild? (Or Beams as it was in the end)

Goal kicking is a skill like any thing else. So to say they should have won easily but for better goal kicking isn’t much different to saying we should have won but for better marking or whatever.

We were incredibly poor with stoppages. Our clearances vs theirs is bad viewing. Our pressure at a ball up will forever be our weakness. I really want hughy no where near these. I see him as an outside player. No explosive pace and very poor defensive player in this situations.

They went straight out with a handball inside far to often with no pressure.


This imo is our worst issue within the club. That and our weak tackling and tacking technique. Wrapping arms around the waste is not going to do anything if they don't chop the arm

I seem to recall Rich having a side gig helping the broncos boys as a kicking coach; maybe one of them can repay the favour and teach us how to lay a tackle?

Rich and Matho were both on the ground during yesterday's warm up and at the oval this morning.

Wonder if that's a sign Matho is done as well. I know he is out of contact

They also had 5 rushed behinds, which only gives them 5 extra true shots on goal than us - and I remember at least a few of those also being complete hack kicks that never stood a chance.

EDIT: and one of those 5 “shots” was frampton spoiling it over the line in a marking contest lol, so really only 4 extra shots

A few in the media this morning saying Baileys goal was goal of the year and they need to wait until after the GF to award it.

A few others saying it was the best GF ever.

Yes, after reading the paper today I’ve gone from definitely not watching it again to probably watching it again, after being there at the game yesterday.

It did feel like they were the better team on the day- had we won I would’ve felt we’d pinched it. As much as it was disappointing to lose, if you had to lose you’d rather lose in a cracking finish than being smashed, and it gives me reasonable hope for next year.

Dolphins mate. Seen him at the game a few times this year when I was there. Principle is the same though. We are a team in a RL state but seem to be one of the worst tackling teams. Wouldn’t be hard to share some intel each way you’d think, whatever team you want to do it with.

The Myrtleford product had actually been weighing up his AFL future after reaching the end of his playing contract with the Lions, and had received plenty of interest from rival clubs from his home state of Victoria.

In the end, his decision to seek a fresh start meant that the Lions could achieve a favourable outcome for all parties.

Yep, at the game it felt like we were chasing tail all day, except a brief moment towards the end of the second where we got out to a 2 goal lead but they kicked 3(?) goals in about 4 minutes to take the lead into half time.

One thing Brisbane have done a lot better than Melbourne is the river precincts, Brisbane's Southbank leaves Melbourne's for dead, all theirs is is a path beside the river and a glum looking casino. We also did the river surrounds a lot better re bike/walk ways aesthetics of it and the general clean feel, bigger prettier parks and gardens in Brisbane also... the Yarra was particularly dirty as well.

Love visiting Melbourne for footy getaways, restaurant choices are great but would never live there.

Yep, while not in large numbers there is a decent amount of homeless people around, I went for a long walk 6am grand final day and the stench of urine was very noticeable.

I have been to Melbourne multiple times over the last decade and it seemed worse this time around.

We just stuck around the city, not much spare time, landed 8.30am Friday morning, went to open training at the G then the Parade and footy precinct, lunch, went back to motel for a rest out to dinner... BTW San Telmo does the best carnivore I have ever eaten. Grand Final day went for a walk, brunch, longest kick(go Richy) and then to the ground, flew out 9.50pm last night.
