Great blokes from your footy club....

Glenn Archer - Anyone who has met the bloke would vouch for his kind heart. I have met him a few times and have always found him shy and reserved but a genuinely good and down down to earth bloke.

A couple not from Arden Street;

Scott Lucas I thought he would be a prik of a bloke before I met him but is a very nice bloke with his head screwed on. Also think he is a much unerrated player.

Peter Bell Besides being a champion little player, isa quality individual who has done it hard and gives a lot back to the game and its supporters.

Kevin Sheedy I used to hate the prik before I met him. have a bit to do with him nowadays and his love of footy and yound footballers in particular is unparalleled.

Others;

Adam Simpson
David King (ex-Roo)
Justin Charles (ex-Tiger)

Leigh Colbert, Arch, Carey, Peter Bell, Kingy and a special mention to Schwatter and his Dad - Mr S always at the club after games.

And to those who nominated Craig Turley. Totally agree. Was lucky enough to be sharing a table with him and his parents at the Demons '96 GF breakfast. Freebie for me. I was fairly stressed out that day- The Roo Boys were in it and all that - but from what I remember of the conversations around the table, he and his folks were top people. Very Friendly and no BS about them. and for the Girls reading this post - A TOTAL SPUNK Cor! Made my cornflakes.

Glenn Archer - Absolute champ on and off the field, nothing is ever too much for Arch, especially with the kids.

Leigh Colbert - GREAT bloke, always a smile and nice to everyone.

Adam Simpson - Always willing to have a chat.

Blake Grima - NICE NICE NICE

Daniel Harris - NICE NICE NICE and gorgeous too! (Harro#4)

Blokes that don't play any more that were always the nicest guys were, Mick Martyn, Wayne Schwass, Alistair Clarkson, Wayne Carey and Anthony Stevens, back in the late 90's all the Roo Boys were great blokes that spared time to speak to all supporters!

Biggest prick I have ever met was from Collingwood and none other than Nathan Buckley.

Cheers :D

Was watching that show on SBS Inside Black today.

They featured David Wirrpunda. Didn't know that he had set up his own foundation to help out kids etc.

Thats Wirra's way. He doesnt shout his community work from the rooftops like a lot of high profile people would. Just a champion fella and a wonderful role model for not just Indigenous Australians, but all Australians.

I forgot to mention Cameron Mooney, was a fave of mine when at North and still remains a TOP bloke. Was friends with him til the club and he parted ways. :) He is very funny too :) :D

Don't know too many Tiger players personally, but had a few beers with Richo at a You Am I gig a few years back and he was a champ. We shared a lot of similar music tastes - At The Drive In, Tool, Beasts of Bourbon, Black Rebel Motorcyle Club etc.. - and talked rock for ages. Really interesting bloke too, which is unusual for a footballer.

Historically, Dave Honeybun was a legendary bloke. How he never became a major footy media identity eludes me to this day. You all would have loved him. He was a riot.

Anthony Stevens, Nathan Thompson, Dylan Smith, Wayne Schwass and Terry Daniher are all great fellas and would go out of their way for you.

Probably a separate thread in itself, but the biggest tossers I've spent time around would include Fraser Murphy, Darren Millane, Ted Whitten Snr, Richard Osborne and Ty Zantuck. Arrogant tools the lot of them.

Birdman....... Not sure port power has many 'good blokes' or if they are they are soon corrupted with that inferiority complex. Nice example is C Cornes especially and Tredrea to a degree. The cornes’ name has been dragged through mud by that club. Monty is also a very ordinary bloke according to power supporters, esp when it comes to the cheap shots. Ladey is a squealer. P Burgoyne is the kind of guy you wouldnt want a young lady to spend a night with. Especially if its in the parklands, by all accounts. Gees I might be right there aren’t too many ‘good blokes’ there when you look at it. Maybe wanganeen>? Does some nice work in the community, don’t like the diving antics though.

Spiro Mellakalis and his lesser known brother Tony.

Fine gentlemen!
Come off it Tony was heaps more famous. He won flags with the most successful club in Australia. :D
Spiro was a better bloke though imo.

I've heard that the Crows mascot really puts himself about, he even "tidies up" the players lockers while they train. Worra guy.

richo and nick daffey are both really nice guys, same with david rodan. From other clubs Andrew Welsh and Paul Licuria were all really nice when i met them
and James Hird is one of the nicest guys you would ever meet we talked for ages even when i had tigers scalf on

Nice going Dani, you'll fit in well around here ;)

I'll second that. Actually Dani was being quite nice.

And speaking of, if this thread was about wives guess who's would be top of the list. A legend in her own photo shoot at a lunch at gambling establishment, during mega racing week. Hmmmm - wasn't seen in the social pages much after that.

Took two of my nephews to a footy clinic that a few Hawk boys were running and Crawf and Dixon were both really friendly and gave the kids heaps of attention and praise which was great to see. Daniel Harford was nice too but he looked like he'd rather be elsewhere.

Currently at the club two great blokes are Neita and Phil Read. At the WCE vs Melbourne game Phil was involved in a clinic pre-match and when it finished was talking to the WCE cheer squad for about 10 minutes and seemed a really great bloke.
Two former players who were good blokes were Gary Lyon, who was very friendly I remember at a Demons clinic to my family and especially my sister who was about 6 at the time and had broken her arm. Marcus Seecamp was also a very good bloke and very easy to approach.
