Millane
G. Brown
Buckley
Rose
S. Coventry...

Brown and Millane would not come close to Albert Collier, Gordon Coventry, Jack Regan or Harry Collier. These are four of the greatest palyers to have played the game. Millane was good but not in their class.

Collingwood

Nathan Buckley- The clubs greatest player. Voss, Hird and McLeod have all said that Buckley is the best footballer they have ever played against. That is good enough for me.

Bob Rose- John Coleman, ******** Reynolds, Alf Brown (Famed Football Writer) and Lou Richards all said that Rose was the greatest player to ever play the game. Tough, hard and skilled.

Albert Collier- Jack Dyer quoted that Albert Collier was a God and he hated Collingwood. He won a Brownlow as a kid and was a 6 times Premiership player. Dyer said that Collier was the toughest and most ruthless man to ever play the game ahead of Carltons Bob Chitty. Dyer also said that Collier was clearly the most skilled player of his time. He was part of the greatest team ever assembled. His teammates rated him above Syd Coventry, Gordon Coventry, Harry Collier and Jack Regan who are immortals of the game.

Jack Regan- Bob Pratt, Soapy Vallence, Gordon Coventry and Reg Hickey- 3 of the greatest full forwards ever and a great key position player in Hickey, all said that Regan was simply the greatest full back to have ever played the game. His nickname amongst his peers and opposition was the Prince of Full Backs.

Syd Coventry- People talk about the Leadership of Voss but this bloke Captained 4 Premierships in a row. Rutless leader who also won a Brownlow Medal.

Apologies to Harry Collier, Des Fothergill, Peter Daicos, Len Thompson and Gordon Coventry.

By the way, I am a Collingwood supporter- Bulldog was in there when I joined and I didnt notice. I am not sure how to change it.
Dont worry South, i think we all know you a Pie at heart.:)

For the Pies you could easily include 5 of the 1927-1930 flag sides. Here's a guess.

Harry Collier
Bob Rose
Gordon Coventry
Len Thompson
Nathan Buckley

My old man told me Des Fothergill and Ron Todd were two of the best we ever had but have been downplayed because they defected to Williamstown for more money. Youy could put in Regan or Albert Collier or Phil Carman or Daicos, or a bundle of others.

We were always a "machine" side in the old days and that air hangs about the place. There are less stars than you'd see at less succesful clubs because we had a tradition of squashing individuality. Rarely has the club sunk so low that we only had one guy truly standing out the way Buckley has this last decade.

****Forgot to Quote Tarkyn_24 in relation to Ben Cousins not been the best Eagle player

He is the best Eagle ever, and by a margin I'll add

6 x All Australian
Brownlow Medalist
AFLPA MVP [Leigh Matthews' Trophy]
AFL Rising Star Winner
Captain [2001-2005]
4 x B/F
2 x Premiership Player
Best Brownlow Votes to Games played ratio of any current player behind Judd
Most top 10 Brownlow finishes behind Buckley

All this and he's only 28

I guess you've got a point. I wasn't thinking that way, I was sort of thinking ahead. I started my post, then realize it's hard to put Kerr and Judd ahead of him as they are only a third of the way into their careers. The statement in bold is just for Carlton, Essendon and Brisbane supporters who all go on about how bad Buckley is compared to their "greats" in Hird and Voss. He is just as good as Hird and Voss.

Saints

Baldock
Harvey
Stewart
Barker
Lockett

Would love to say Burke, Winmar and Big Stewie but they are probably not the 'all time greats' so much as the all time favourites...
