Hard to hear exactly what was said but it appear ****ter may have been said.

And shortly after Sicily came over to Jones to tell him not to use such language because it's not nice :D

Seriously though, not playing the victim mentality, but if this is true and it came from Hawthorn or any other club it'd be world news.

On Sicily, I love that whenever there is some sort of niggle or push and shove, he'll be somewhere in there. Reminds me of Dermie in that regard.

Agree about not being precious, but would love to see the hypocrisy exposed

If we cast our minds all the way back to round 1 v the Scum. When Hodge went down early in the game, Clarko was mighty peed off no one flew the flag to call out the gutless Essendon hack. Last night we saw 5-6 Hawks including big Brandy coming straight in and giving Franko a what for with a bit cheese on top. Great to see.
Hodgey was in the stands serving his clubs suspension in Rd 1 Rusty. Point taken though...

I know the Sic / Dermie comparisons are obvious, but for a moment, maybe in the 2nd qtr, when he rose to take a mark in front of 2 Swans ... my immediate thought was, is that the sort of thing Peter Knights used to do regularly? Maybe I wasn't paying attention enough and in replaying it my mind it was Knights like. It certainly is a glorious sight.

The swine may have made us look better than we are in the marking department, but it was an absolute highlight. I cant remember when we've played with such aerial ability, and to think we have the hands of Cyril, Pop, Stratton, Frawley etc to return, whilst there is also the golden fisted Gibson in the wings. Aerial supremacy.

Loved the run off half back and the fact we had so many options out of defence. An added 2 starting behind the ball and running through the guts has been a game changer. Imagine what its going to look like with an isolated Cyril or Pop lurking in the forward line.

Delicious.

Someone's sent me the text of the conversation between McVeigh and Langers:

McVeigh: 'I didn't come here to be disrespected"
Langers: "Okay, where do you usually go?"

Sorry, very old joke...

Ha! It's been a long time since I've heard that one. Classic.

How good was Glass smashing into Buddy in the last. Saved a goal there and perhaps the game.

Really hurt the Budwah too. Last time I saw him keeled over by a bump was when Scarlett got him in the 08 Granny.

.

Thinking like my old man.

He's not a Hawk but he loved Knightsy as a player (as I think most people of that era did). Saw a bit of the old #24 in Sicily. High leap, clean marking with the beautiful skills to go with it. Can't forget the blonde hair either (Sicily is a bit of a ranga though).

Now I doubt Sis will ever reach those heights but if he becomes even a quarter as good as Knights, it might make up for myself not being born in that era. ;)

Definitely see the Dermie comparisons though as far as attitude is concerned. It's hard to miss.

That needs a thread in itself

A compete and utter slimy campaigner of a human and is the most detested player in our league. The kind of captain that tries to talk tough from slips whilst batting at #8 (with only one shot he can play - squirting through point to third man) and only bowling when the game is won.

My mate made a 160 against the deaf team, and the next week old mate Stevens is telling him he only made runs against the ret*rds.

We will be wearing our premiership medals when we play him next season and will be giving it to him large.

Yeah, nah. Footy isnt footy any more. Footy used to sort out what gets descried as niggle. The soft **** practitioners that do it get lauded as tough guys. Nothing tough about it, and a clever counter from Langers in doing what he did. Hell of a taunt. Funny, lighthearted, and as weve seen - very effective. Onya Langers, I applaud you for the act and not getting sucked into the fake niggling shit.

I find it disrespectful of anyone who played the game in a previous era, who would not have tolerated the pansy antics of that Zack no caJones, or pissants like Ballantyne for a moment. They've managed to hide behind the skirt of the image conscious AFL, the umpires and outraged footy mums. All consequences for said tough guy acts have been removed from the game, the natural balance of physical retaliation, the bump or tackle have almost been removed from the game, and the legitimate shrug off elbow, or clip from the fist will see you removed from the game in short order.

On the subject of kissing on a footy field, I have seen little pecks at top level rugby league at least. Happened years ago and wasnt surprised then, so I always thought a legitimate response or taunt. Absolutely nothing in it.

As a extremely lippy and antagonising junior player, sometimes called on to play more senior grade, I was given the advice - if you start a fight, dont try and box on, grab em in a bear hug and plant a kiss on em. Their response will be to fight to get away from you! Complete self preservation on their part. Or it'll crack others up and they will laugh.
Started some fights, never had to go the smooch, but it is sound advice Ive repeated and had coaches agree with.

Old man Mc has made fool of himself. The way he's carried on, people will be blowing him kisses in the street for the rest of his days.

Tube.
Yeh McVeigh has embarrassed himself and the team ....very precious and very brittle.
I think a few opposition players and supporters might be blowing him kisses for a while! Who knows it might take off like Sheedy's scarf waving, now wouldn't that be funny.

This has probably already been said, but it speaks volumes about the two teams culture when you see an ex-Hawthorn player (Buddy) side-by-side with Clarko for most of the post-game presentation, compared to Longmire barely acknowledging Mitchell.

I heard Mitchell and horse didn't get on, one chilly relationship is not really enough to slam a whole club's culture.

Also, buddy won flags with Clarko, that creates a different bond.
