Yeah i dont see what the big deal is, all clubs leak like a sieve. Hardly any secrets in footy, its like one big sewing circle.
I think the big deal is that it's hard to see what leaking it achieves for anyone who might have known at the time, unless it's some sort of payback to Hardwick.

Based on his comments in this conference I'd say he's $1.10 to be coaching somewhere next year.
Yeah, based on his 'Last Dance' reference, sounds like he was hoping to have a shot at another premiership, then maybe take a year off, then go elsewhere.
Once the premiership dream was done, so was his tenure at Richmond, in his mind.

Do coaches normally get an ovation from the press as they leave their 'retirement' presser?
I'd say if they've won multiple flags and are generally likeable by the media then yeah

Can't recall the last coach who retired, outside of Rhys Shaw. Most of them just get sacked.

no, you are the one being ridiculous.
3 flags in 4 years is close to 4 in a row. it doesnt matter if its 3 in a row then miss, or 1, miss then 2 in a row.

in 4 years, richmond had 3 wins and a prelim loss

over a period of 4 years hawks had 3 wins and a semi loss

that would make richmond closer to 4 in a row than hawthorn.

and im not a richmond fan at all. you are just being pedantic because it doesnt fit your narrative.
What narrative would that be. Please tell.
By the way we lost 2012 GF so if we're going to start this silly "nearly" 4 in a row debate we came closer to 4 peat. Do some research.
But do I give a rats. Nope.

I feel for Adam Kingsley. Went for about ten jobs, finally got one... could've just been promoted at Richmond 🫠

It's not that he had to apply for a lot of jobs that's the issue, it's that he ended up having to relocate his family and coach the orange team.

That said, he can probably slow build GWS without too much pressure. Taking on the Richmond job is a great opportunity but also very high profile and difficult to follow a legend.

I don't know how deep you attempt to rebuild Richmond. If you cut it deep now you might be in a world of trouble in 3 years time. Don't cut enough and you might be stuck in the middle.

i find this situation kinda of weird. he wanted one last shot at glory, didnt pan out and decided to quit mid season.
if a player gave up and quit mid game, everyone would lost it, he would be dropped and who knows if they play again.

whats the difference?

The coach can be replaced midseason.

A player can’t be replaced midgame. Team plays 1 player down if a player quits mid game.

Most loveable jokey guy when things are going right. Absolute sour puss when it isnt. Similar to his playing days

Were supporters calling for his head ? Find this a strange time to stand down despite the narrative of his presser

Preliminary Final, Runners up, Premiers, Premiers, Premiers, Semi Final.

Stop browsing the internet and focus on the teacher.

And defended him on Footy Classified. She's a massive hypocrite.
I get that when you know someone personally you can have a different take on what they're really like as a person, but it's amazing to me that someone like Wilson can't see (or simply don't care) at how poor it will look when they publicly bend over backwards to defend someone they know/like, but they'd offer none of the same sympathy to someone in the industry that they don't have a personal relationship with.

Was actually a very good and gracious presser from Dimma, his affection and love for the Richmond footy club and the people involved there and the fans is obvious.
Who are you and what have you done with Elmer_Judd?

Agree though, was a great presser. A nice, clean breakup. Still, I would've liked to see him coach one more game for a send off.

A player can’t be replaced midgame. Team plays 1 player down if a player quits mid game.
but if the coach has mentally quit in the lead up to resigning, then it is logical to assume that the team would feel that and not play at their best.
in other words the two options should have been quit in 2022 or fight through with your team until the end of the season - like you would ask the players to fight.

Can’t say I have seen a lot of Brendan Gales interviews, but he seemed very quiet and almost gave an annoyed vibe. May be completely misreading situation

Do have to admire Hardwicks love for his players and noted he will miss them more than the silverware.
