Actually, they did try to trade one to get Shanahan.

They also have nowhere near the collateral.

2x mid late firsts?
Mid to late? Ess are 4th fav for the spoon and Dees 7th.

Ess have 4 1st rounds - from next year you can trade 2 years in advance. Ess is one team that has plenty to offer in the way of a trade.

Maybe you should state the picks instead of getting me to do your research.
They have picks 5, 8, 25 and 26.
Picks 1 and 3 are much better, and I doubt Essendon would offer 4 picks.

You said Richmond is the only club with the picks to get it done.

That is wrong and very clearly so.

I gave you one obvious example. There may be others with rule changes re: future pick trading on the horizon.

The point is not which picks are “better”, these picks are as yet unknown. We have another season to play before we get there.

I don’t have Richmond as the most likely landing spot, should he leave at the end of 2025. Most wouldn’t. You do, and that’s ok too.

Of course - that is part of what they can use to trade for players.

Two 1sts & 2nds in 2025, one 1st and 1 2nd in 2026 and one 1st & 2nd in 2027.
So aprox pick 5 and 8 some 2nd rounders and a future pick of about 10 .
I think Richmonds 1 and 3 is much more appealling , plus we have a future prob number 1 pick.
So we have pick 1 , pick 1 future and pick 3.
West Coast would much prefer to deal with us if they had to trade him.

You're not going to get Reid without two top 5 picks imo, that's what he's worth.

So much guess work and hypothetical future star gazing.

Hawks went from 16th to 7th this year, GWS the same the year before, the Pies 17th to 4th the year before that.

Good luck predicting finishing positions in 2025 - let alone 2026!!!

You don't need any guesswork to see where Richmond will finish next two years.

He’ll likely nominate a club before we get to that stage, either publicly or in private.

And I’d say there’s a few clubs he’s more likely to nominate than Richmond.

Right now no club has one top 5 pick, let alone two. And there will be time to trade for additional picks should they be required.

That's just your opinion man.

Will Sharp want to move from SA to WA to play for the Eagles, no.
So eagles might prefer to not have a pick1 playing for them who as pick1, probably thinks he should get to choose where he plays.
But I could be completely wrong.

Eagles might go ok this year, or repeat last year and face a Richmond style exodus of their best/ highest trade value players leave ( Allen and Reid).

Lol. Well if Sharpe will be moving.

Draftees in two team towns kinda expect they will likely need to move.

And they don't have a say.

I hope he stays at WCE.
If he does go, wouldnt WCE want a player instead of more picks?
Is there any gun WA players in Vic that could want to go home or did they all leave the Tigs this offseason :p

Well the Dees have a number of quality WA players and any may become involved if he leaves and nominates them.

Any one or two of:

Rivers
Van Rooyen
Pickett
Tholstrup
McVee

Plus picks Melbourne could easily make an enticing offer.

And?

Future first rounders aren't very appealing when trading for players, I'd have thought.

Just because a club is 'expected' to go somewhere, doesn't mean they will. Especially 2 years in advance.

What are the chances of that?
Considering the average games played per draft pick, not as low as you'd like to think, compounded with injury concerns.

Not to say they will, obviously, but they're more likely to be serviceable at best, than be star players.

Solid enough foundation at this stage though but to be perfectly honest, Richmond would be mad to make a play next season, with what would be required to get WCE to agree to release him a year early on his contract.

They'd be better served investing in the draft again.

Just look at Carlton with Judd, for instance, and they were in a better position than Richmond currently are.
