A lot of water under the bridge to go yet.
Anything is possible and WC could be pushing for a finals fling by then.
If that happens I would say Harley would be invested in the "Dream" a lot can happen in two years.

They have 4 1st round picks - the same as Richmond and 4 2nd round picks - the same as richmond.

You think that is not enough draft capital - 4 1st and 4 2nd round picks?
I think you're taking a bet on where they end up, + having to wait another 2 years to potentially move those picks, whilst rebuilding, isn't appealing whatsoever.

You must have missed the baker trade. Warner is a star.

And?

WCE got backed into a corner by Hawthorn trading out pick 14.

Ultimately, it somehow ended up much better for us overall than trading pick 14 for Barrass anyway, which was Hawthorn's original offer.

WCE wouldn't say, trade Reid, then give up the same picks for Chad Warner, lmfao.

Where did I post they are the same price?? Maybe try and comprehend a post before giggling at in a corner.

If you get 3 1st rounds for HR - 2 would end up at the Swans for Warner. So yeah you would lose most of the HR trade to the Swans if Warner picked the Eagles.

Just in case - 2 or 3 makes it the majority or picks.

If we get 2x top 5 picks, in a hypothetical trade with Richmond, they aren't going to Sydney.

They'd get the lowest of those/ours and say, Hawks first, depending how high it finishes.

Or if Hawk miss finals, we just ship them that and next year's.

Yeah so one of them plus more. So the third time - most of the HR trade will go to the Swans. It’s ok you will still have something left over.

He also has a lot of work to do to finish in the top 10 in the coaches votes - like Warner just did.

No, it won't.

For instance, we get 1 + another top 5 from Richmond.

We give Hawthorn's first and our future first for Warner.

Keep 3x top 5 picks(presuming ladder positions are similar to this year).

Sydney can demand one all they want, he's out of contract.

Or he re-signs and we keep our picks/get 3 of 5 top 5 picks(+ steak knives) for next year on the chance Reid did request a trade home.

Give OAllen a subtle nudge and it's potentially 4 of the top 5 picks for next year, if both he and Reid wanted out for some reason.

Why would he go to Richmond?

As we've seen, plenty of examples over the years, players move to teams with likely imminent success, not cellar dwellars for the foreseeable future, no matter how big they are.

West Coast are a wealthier and bigger club than Richmond and have struggled attracting FA's themselves since dropping down (outside of Baker this year).

When all the power is with the player, I think he will simply select a side he thinks he can win flags with.

Prestia? Lever? Charlie Cameron? McGovern? Brad Hill? Dawson? Ginnivan? Chol? Caleb Daniel?

Most went to bottom 3 teams who at the time were not expected to rise up any time soon.

OK, thank you.

That's true for Cameron, McGovern, Hill (Fremantle), Ginnivan, Chol x 2 and now Daniel.

Most are very different situations to what Reid may find himself in at the end of next season.
