Battle is a way better player than Draper.
I'm not the biggest fan of Draper myself, but I think the Crows need to improve their ruck stocks so he doesn't have to be an elite ruckman to trigger a first round compensation pick. I don't see Battle as a KPD worth a first round compensation. Ben McKay also received first round compensation and he wasn't that great either. If Adelaide cannot secure another ruckman, they'll chase Draper and he can negotiate a higher price to leave Essendon. I'd say there's a pretty good chance he gets Band 1 compensation if he plays well and stays injury free. Might not be the case and he may get an end of first round compensation but we'll see.

Even if we don't get a first round pick for Draper, we have plenty of draft capital for a Reid trade. The options just widen if we do get band 1 for Draper.

As someone who wanted Harley Reid at Eagles more then any Eagle fan around, I’ll be first to admit that I couldn’t really care less of he stays or goes . Reid is an asset as well as a footballer. Any move for him in one way or another will see an absolutely massive overpay. For the integrity of the competition AFL will make sure it happens one way or the other.

If Eagles are bottom four next year and Reid asked to leave we are 100 percent guaranteedto get a priority pick or two and that’s before the trade. If he asked to leave I’d expect the leverage we hold over everyone would just guarantee us an overpay.

We would definitely leave any scenario with 5 top 20 picks someway or the other. AFL AND ESSENDON would just manufacture it that way

North have been shit for 10 years

They got 4 second round picks that we had to trade away or lose them and ended up with Logue Tucker Stephens and Fisher.

There ain't a chance WCE will get a round 1 pick let alone a priority pick.

The AFL will engineer it so that you do get 5 first round picks though

I think AFL won’t make the same mistake twice. Not giving you more assistance was a terrible decision. I think Reid leaving will be a much worse look for the competition also. JHF was a bad look but Reid leaving would take it to a new level . They can only justify it via us getting a massive massive overpay

He's under contract isn't he? It's up to West Coast to get a massive overpay.

At the end of the day it comes down to what Harley wants to do or where he chooses to go ……… WC supporters may posture and think differently but this is the biggest factor

Not really. He is under contract still. Even when he comes off contract I cant see him being able to dictate his wants to a level where he can choose to go to Collingwood cos he feels like it.

AFL wont let it happen even if Harley wanted it too.

The afl will let it happen because they are weak and under the AFLPA thumb.

Why not 6 top 20 picks, an even number?

The way I see it play out is the same as Josh Dunkley to Lions trade.
Bulldogs go hard for Essendons 2 early first round picks, get all uppity that he's worth it. Then Lions swoop in with a couple late first and a 2nd rounder which gets the deal done.
Wouldn't surprise me if Geelong pulls that move, they're great at mugging WC in the draft.
