Harry and Noble and very different players, and especially now they have him playing wing.

Pick 25 in the end so let’s not act like he’s a top 5 pick. Perhaps would be better to look at the top 30 and see how many have playedApologies for the random bump but I was watching one of Jen's training videos and saw Harry in there and it made me wonder what the deal is with him?
For those watching the VFL more closely than I, is he progressing?
It seems odd to me that our first pick in last year's draft I don't think has even been an emergency (I stand to be corrected here) let alone get a game? Yet TJ has already achieved both.
I'm aware he had his finger injury but that was a while back now.
Plus he missed a third of the season with a finger injury.Pick 25 in the end so let’s not act like he’s a top 5 pick. Perhaps would be better to look at the top 30 and see how many have played

You don't draft for Year 1 - we used SSP for that.nah, pick #25 is fine and so are the rest of the national draft spots.
just need a team that's above average at talent iD!
2023 afl national draft
- 64 players selected
- 34 have already debuted in 2023
- 17 taken before HDM (pick #25) have debuted
- 17 selected after HDM (pick #25) have debuted
- 10 of 30 yet to debut are KP or rucks and > 197 cms (most > 200cms)
- total 262 games played by 2023 draftees thus far in 2024
- of 262 total games:
- 149 games (57%) for players selected before #25
- 113 games (43%) for players selected after #25
Players taken in the draft can and do contribute year 1 (clearly, less so tall KP /ruck types) ..and into the future. This concept of draft ‘lottery’ is the biggest dross I’ve ever read. You don't draft for Year 1 - we used SSP for that.

“luck” also involved in assessing current skill-set / physical attributes /ability to play the game today as predictors of potential future state."draft lottery" is just because a high percentage don't have sustained careers - and there is a fair bit of luck involved as clubs are predicting the future physical, mental and emotional development of teenagers.
We've had a shit run at the draft recently and I'm not bullish about any of our VFL kids.“luck” also involved in assessing current skill-set / physical attributes /ability to play the game today as predictors of potential future state.
point is, it’s NOT just ‘uncontrollable’ happenstance /luck, so our talent ID team should be best-in-class at focusing on the non ‘luck’ part
Like a new recruit next season. Johnny Noble role I reckon.I think Fly is on record as saying he was on the cusp of selection after an impressive preseason, before that finger injury.
Parker can have the Johnny Noble role. Think Harry looks better on the wing. Take those Bytel minutes please.Like a new recruit next season. Johnny Noble role I reckon.
