I was in the cheer squad as a teenager from 79 to 84 and attended every home and away and finals game and I can never remember a chant like that. Even from 84 on when I was a regular in the outer there has never been a universal chant like the one last night. The soccer chant is slow and is the type you can just easily join and before you know it, it's one chant.
At other times, you get so many different sections of the crowd starting a chant that it's not in sinc and just doesn't work.

Watched the replay at 2am (after the game) and I had goose bumps !
Had the HD TV, 5.1 sound (neighbours weren't happy...lol)

Was lucky enough to hold the banner in the middle of the G in 79, 80 & 81 GF's and the roar when the boys would busrt through the banner was such a rush !!

clearly your memory is faulting u.

in 2002 it was mind boggling. was definitely not restricted to the cheer squad area
Joffa started it after coming back from a Freo game - probably about that time but it never took off the way it did last night.

Yes - you could hear it but it was limited to the cheer squad and maybe a bay or two either side

Last night it was the entire stadium

It was bigger than that in '02! We don't sit anywhere near the cheersquad and we were all doing it!

It gave me goosebumps watching it on TV.:thumbsu:

To everyone that is lucky enough to get tickets next week, don't hold back. Cheer for me and every other die hard Collingwood supporter that can't get tickets. It could get them over the line in the end!

this!

let us hear the pies supporters ROAR next week!

I have been to a few finals, including Granny's and the atmospere was electric. My husband who is a Saints man even said how fantastic it was. I stopped for a few seconds to just listen to the chant and soak it up...spine tingling....
God I love the Pies.

It was awesome, can't wait, had to sell the wife an kids to get there but its on bro.

My voice is still recovering. It was fantastic to be part of that experience. I loved the way Maxwell acknowledged the crowd immediately after the game. He was right in front of us. Right in front of me! I even stood on my chair - got a bit carried away.:p

When we were leaving the Ponsford, the goings-on behind the cheer squad area were epic - singing, dancing, chanting - then Joffa was outside conducting another session. What a shame we won't be able to be at the GF in such numbers.

Was awesome, I was right next to the Geelong cheer squad for most of the game and the buzz and noise was just epic. As others have mentioned it will be hard to repeat next week simply due to the amount of neutrals at the ground.
