Roland Ah Chee (formerly GC) and Brendon Ah Chee (Port) both have Chinese heritage. 2011 Pick #64 from the Crows, Cameron Ellis-Yolmen has one Indigenous and one Papua New Guinean parent.

Also Daniel Kerr, has an Anglo-Indian father, Alex Silvagni an Anglo-Indian mother.
Paul Medhurst is Malaysian.
Clancee Pearce is Indian.
Andrew Embley and Trent Dennis-Lane both have Burmese heritage.
James Gwilt is Papua New Guinean
Matthew Stokes partly Filipino.

If Wikipedia is to be believed.

They DONT play 'AFL" they play Australian Football FFS - The AFL is a League not the Game itself!!!

:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu: ... well said !!!

Sad thing is so many people would battle to understand your point ...
a bit like soccer rebranding itself as football & a compliant press went along with it. Duds like Whately !!

Played a bit of school footy with Asian guys who had absolutely nil interest in making a career of it.

Geelong had an Indian lad rookied a few years back but he never made it to senior level due to injury

Don't think I have ever seen a SE Asian type play at AFL level (ie apart from the hybrids who didn't look that Asian)

ohh and people from the pacific islands are not Asians just FYI

How did you conclude that? The national sport of Thailand is Muay Thai, arguably the toughest sport of all.

According to this source, the average height of males between 20-30 is

179.0 Australia
174.2 South Korea
172.7 Taiwan
172.1 Hong Kong
171.8 China
170.8 Singapore
169.0 Thailand
166.1 North Korea
165.0 Vietnam
164.2 Philippines
163.0 Indonesia
162.5 Cambodia

Of course in these populous countries there are large numbers of people who buck the averages, but as a rule of thumb the stereotype holds true - Asians are smaller than westerners. It doesn't help that football isn't quite the game for all shapes and sizes that it once was.

VFL/AFL players with international backgrounds
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a listing of Australian Football League players with international and multicultural backgrounds. As the families of all non-indigenous Australians are originally from elsewhere, this list goes back a maximum of one generation. Countries are listed in alphabetical order.

The following criteria are used for this list:
player must have played at least one senior match
player must have been born in a country outside Australia OR have at least one of their parents born outside Australia.
Similar criteria were used for the inaugural Multicultural Cup which was held by Aussie Rules International, a competition in which players who had a parent or grandparent born overseas were allowed to play for that country.

Wow, thanks for that list, never knew about Francou (though thinking now yeah Cypriut I presume?) and Lou Richards!

Also for that matter, Daniel Metropolis.

Geez, feel a bit shocked now.
