Sure, Stengle and Miers have been pretty good, but these aren't the types of players who can drive a team to sustained success. They are role-players.

There is a reason you lost five out of six games as soon as Dangerfield got injured. Your club is heavily dependent on a 34 year old to carry the midfield, and it won't hold up in finals.

If even one of them is injured or underperforming, Geelong almost always lose. It doesn't take a genius to understand how this state of affairs doesn't bode well for a club at all.

Meanwhile with a team like Sydney, we can lose one of our best players in Warner and still produce quality football. We are not critically dependent on a small group of old players.

Great example there, picking a guy who’s not missed a game all season. Even on Friday when he got injured, ‘your’ team - I think we all know it isn’t - was playing Essendon

They don't play Hawkins IMO.

They are doing well without him and unfortunately I think he's well and truly finished.

Geelong should pick their best side heading into the Preliminary Final, if that means not picking Hawkins then so be it. Loyalty only goes so far and is not a black mark on the club for not being loyal (if they don't pick Hawkins). So far the Cats are playing well without Hawkins.

Do they need him for the rest of this Finals series - up to them, we will see.

You're creating a negative when it's positive, and doing so only reveals how bizarrely anti-Geelong your obsession is. Just give credit every now and again.

Immobile key forwards make terrible subs.

Hawkins knew at his age that this was a possibility. He made his way in the AFL through the same happening to the veteran forward he replaced. He said he's very happy to finish up in the VFL and Tom is a genuine guy. He has spent so much time helping Neale that I'm sure he is beaming with pride that he is taking his chance.
