Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

This probably isn't legal under the current rules. But I wonder if we aren't as keen on Bowes as Geelong are, and if Bowes himself is keen on Geelong if we could on-trade him (still paying all or part of his salary) in exchange for something from Geelong.

Basically, we get pick 7 from Gold Coast for freeing up their cap, and something else from Geelong for getting them a player they couldn't otherwise afford to acquire.
You can’t trade in a player, then trade out the same player, in the same year
You can only do that with draft picks

That's what I was thinking. But then you've never previously been able to trade a pick and a player for nothing in return just to facilitate a salary cap dump and the AFL has signed off on that.

Maybe it's a three way trade if the AFL signs off on us paying the salary.

We help our mortal enemy and probable Premiership team ?
If it happens that we don't rate Bowes and they're willing to pay with a good draft pick to get him, then really we're helping ourselves.

Phew...

Thought it might have been someone who wasn't a dick.

I lasted one reply last week before he blocked me from his twitter feed...
You asked about the Bruest tweet, didn't you? 😂

Getting Pick 7 would be heaven, it's gotta be said.

6 and 7 allows us to do all sorts of things, and if we get a second rounder for Tom we'd actually have the best hand in the draft.

Jack Bowes started his AFL career at Manunda Hawks……just saying

Dream would be ending up with 7,8,16 + father son/Academy.

Crazy that draft hand would be pretty easy to assemble

Agreed.
I feel previous administrations would've happily traded out Pick 6 + 24 to get hold of that prized Pick 7!

Cal is saying the AFL will approve Bowes and 7 for nothing back. An NBA style salary dump.
Then I guarantee we will not be the ones that will be involved in the trade.

Scrimshaw lived with Bowes and his grandparents for his first 12 months on the Gold Coast, hopefully their friendship helps get Bowes over the line.

They do follow each other on twitter, strangely though Bowes also follows the Saints....

Scrimshaw's name starts with S and Bowes name ends with S. Surely that counts for something too? :laughv1:

I love the dot joining people go through looking for glimmers of hope it will mean a greater chance of him nominating us.

Seven also starts with S…
We’re through the looking glass people!!!

When you couple that with the fact they have the same first name.... what other club has any other chance!?
