There is absolutely no way TOM was one of the best value trades in the club's history.

Yes, he got an individual award. However, we achieved absolutely no success with him in the team. Not to mention we gave up pick 14 for him. Our list management strategy during this period has proven to be an absolute disaster.
What you drinking?

No it won’t. There has to be a concussion sub.
There isn't now. The sub is tactical option to use or cover for injury, it's not restricted to concussions as was originally intended.

If the AFL were truly serious about managing concussions they'd reinstate the rules around the concussion sub, allow for multiples in a game (to allow for the Port friendly fire scenario) and give serious penalties for abuse of the protocols.

What would you call all the trading we did for mature players and ignoring the draft during 2016 - 2019: Mitchell, JOM, Vickery, Scully, Patton, Wingard, Frost, etc...

We tried and failed miserably at a strategy that only Geelong successfully pulled off. I reckon Collingwood has gone down the same path as us, trading in a bunch of okay mature players. If they continue for another year or so, they will be in the same predicament we were 2 years ago.
We are talking about Tom Mitchell here in isolation. Getting a 23yo Mitchell was not topping up, he also then goes on to win our BNF 3 times and wins a Brownlow. We did not overpay for Tom Mitchell.

We also used pick 14 on Nick Holland and he didn’t magically transform us into a premiership team either. Doubt anyone’s claiming we didn’t get some bang for buck though.

No doubt we committed some list management clangers in the post-threepeat era, but Titch wasn’t one of them.

You also can’t conclusively say we’d have been a more successful team using his pick on someone else. You have no idea. But we can state confidently that it’s highly unlikely we’d have had Brownlow-quality talent in our midfield over those years.

Ramsden nowhere near ready yet named in today’s team, with Meek not getting a look in. How could the coaching staff get it so wrong? 😆
Cause Ramsden is competing for the ruck/forward role while Meek is competing for the ruck only roll. So the coaching staff have got it so right.

O’Meara? Lacks endurance?
So he has the endurance to play as a midfielder, but not as a HF? And he has no foot skills? 😂
Look Steven, JOM is gone. I'm sorry we sent him back west. I know it's hard on you with the two hour time difference during the season. But you'll survive and see him in the off season.

Who was playing the ruck / forward start of the year? Reeves or Meek?
Every team has two rucks who can play in the seniors regardless of whether they are both in that team at the same time or not. Our are Reeves and Meek.

If we didn't get in Meek who would you like to have gotten in as the second ruck?

And seriously what is your beef against Sam and Mark in trading out JOM when it was in his best interest to take a four year deal?

The list strategy set us back years and shouldn’t have happened.

We should have burnt the list after the 2016 run to win 4 in a row.

To get draft picks and start the next rebuild to the flag and hit the draft hard like we did under Mitchell.

E,g GWS tried to get Breust with a top 4 pick in 2016 also.

We should have kept Mitchell, Lewis etc to show the kids the right way to train and set standards. But traded anyone that would net us a top 10 pick.

Ramsden was named in the squad this week on the extended bench. For the sake of accuracy we have to wait to see if he is picked to play. However as you said Meek was not selected in the squad.

Dude Mitchell was a steal and before his broken leg he was the best inside player in the comp, the JOM deal however is what broke us. Fremantle got Picks 6 and 19 for Neale+30.

If Omerea and Wingard were the players we paid for then our rebuild might have been a different story. Mitchell did his part.

TOM for 14 was a steal. Agree wingard and JOM deals stuffed us. Remember we gave pick 19 for o'rourke..
Geez the ORourke one goes under the radar. That is genuinely putrid.

Ranks below average as a HFF for freo in
I50
Marks inside 50s
Meters Gained
Average in
Score Involvements
Effective Disposal (if you only average 20.3) you had better have more than 15 to be a HFF

Kicked 7 goals for the year

But sure, great HFF 😂😂😂
Is he playing HFF at Freo though?

Hopefully in the future we do it differently and don’t keep trading out our first pick for a player but we stock pile first picks but trade with other clubs to get there pick and just keep pushing it forward so when we do what to go again we have multiple first rounds pick in the one draft like Richmond tried to do but wasted them on hooper and toranto.
