Autopsy Hawks v Pies

Liked Brand's game. Having a big body like him down back is critical. We have some really good players returning from injury so hopefully we can put some wins together in the run home. I can't see us making finals but a 10 win season would be a positive outcome in the context of our poor start to 2017.

Kiwi Kurt still has a long way to go to keep a spot on the list I feel but if he is an instigator of the return of the unsociable Hawks & it starts with the new look backline kids getting onboard first, then keep the games coming.

Don't get the praise for Breust?

Rough was awful as others touched on

"Play the kids"... seems a foregone conclusion. Sweet!

Doc... I will take tomato sauce with my hat. Great game!

TOB did mark that ball.

BB is becoming a lynchpin without carrying an injury.

We look younger, faster & more aggressive in both game style & the hunger for the contest.

I don't want to write off guys.., wait yes I do, it's BF...
Poppy, Gibson, Frawley & Stratts should all be coming back through BH to show some form.

He's very strong overhead and tackles hard. Love having a couple of bigger bodies in he and Rough mid.

On that, I think Langford could use an extra 5 Kg the way he plays. He'd be able to break through more of those contests he throws himself at, and be more stable when disposing of the pill. He's not an outside quality player, bulk him up a bit!

Great post and 100 percent correct, get langers up over 85 kg for next year and use him as a bit more of a wrecking ball on the inside, you look at josh Kennedy , dusty Martin, Ollie wines, fifye etc,, this is the model for Langers

Have seen little of that...and it's too little IMO. Had a fantastic game.

Really pleasing win overall. We are starting to see a lot more fluent scoring chains and simply looking a more dangerous side.

Yep, we still manage to butcher what at times look like 'tap in' goals and we give up some goals the other way with diabolical turnovers....but the balance between the good and the bad is starting to swing heavily towards a lot more good again.

Didn't scoop up the ball well in our froward 50 for goals that were there for the taking

Been an issue for a bit. Mind you he's usually in top gear trying to take those and when he nails them I think he makes them look easier than they actually are.

That aside though, he tackled well, dished out a few goals with some hard ball gets and used the ball beautifully.

Was still a cracking game IMO.

Loved that game. Great effort from the boys. The second quarter saw the Pies act up a little but they boys held strong. Played even in the third and then finally pulled away in the fourth.

You can tell that the new players in the side are starting to play like they belong there. They are looking less and less like they are asking permission and more and more like they are taking on play by their own initiative. And they are standing up to other sides. Showing a little aggression.

A 6-1 record is needed to make the finals from here. The team is starting to gel and I think we have a chance. A small one, but the fat lady loosened her corset a little last night; She's not yet ready to take the stage.

Ernie took a kick out towards the end, and there were some boos from the cheersquad, which died down once they realised there was no '1' before the'5' lolz

Not even sure what Hodgey did TBH - was booed from the start.

He was, nothing bad was replayed on TV, bo idea what it was about. Pies supporters do it most games they play badly, they're so hard done by bless their little hearts. Those nasty umpires.

There's something with Ruffs hands, he has absolutely no ability to take a contested mark. His hands are very soft, looks like the ball hits the middle of the palms and trickles out.

That was pathetic, I had a Collingwood bloke next to me and he said it was pathetic, had no idea why they where booing him.

Punky got to the right spots and impacted the game sparringly, he actually leaves the footy behind a lot, he over runs it and then he's out of the contest. His game was so so, had a few big moments though.

Had a bunch of people in the row in front of us who were over from Adelaide to see the Crows, and wanted to experience the 'G - pretty quiet but once the boos kept going and going, they were cheering and clapping louder than most Hawks fans around us haha

Tin man needs to find a heart, all cherry no cake. Can play we know but will never have that mongrel that inspire men and win others over.

Just finished watching the game. Great win by the fella's.
Shoey great first half, TOB excellent 2nd half. Burton, Hardwick and Mitchell consistent as usual. Sic took some great marks down back. Brand showed us a few glimpses of what he can do, and imo has the potential to play a similar style to Brian Lake with his reading of the play and positioning himself in the right place. Langers his usual see ball get ball mentality, just waiting for him to nail a set shot, have the feeling once he nails one, he will have the confidence to keep going. Kiwi love his aggression and attack, excellent smother in the first quarter after he made a blue, love that he tried to fix his mistakes rather than hang the head. Billy is still showing us glimpses, and seems to becoming more confident with each game, just needs to show a little bit more composure and awareness.
McEvoy is turning into a beast and is worth what we paid for him. Doc surprised me with his game as the densive forward, played really well in the role(not to Cyril's and Poppy's levels but was rather solid in match.
I love that we won, and we still have lots that we ca. Improve on and become better at.

Was watching with some footy mates. Even though his form is horrible he was in great position to really hit a few Pies hard (and fairly) in the marking contest). Just a little thing but puts some doubt in defenders minds next time he goes for a grab. Loved some of his runs through the middle though. If Rough can hit some form a late charge at the finals is a possibility. Big test this week coming up.

They recently put a 'howler' up on the hill in the centre of town here to draw in wild dogs. I wonder if the AFL has placed a 'booer' somewhere in the G so they can draw more pies fans in.
