it would be interesting if hawthorn could get matthew knights back from adelaide. he might be a bit home sick?
and Hawthorn is an eastern suburbs team, and he played for the eastern rangers. very good player and i'd like to see him down to hawthorn.
btw, does anyone know how much its costs to jump on the Hawthorn bandwagon in 2008 as a 17 year-old with consession card? :)

sorry, got him mixed up with someone else..
chris knights, definetly. he is a really good player, without being great
a second teir player that teams can build themselves around. but yes, would be great to get him down

Are you serious:eek: He will get 30 touches no doubt but 20 will be clangers. His kicking is the knock on him!

Yeah totally agree. Gets plenty of it but does nothing with it. Will probably develop into a good inside mid but we need blokes with good skills to feed our quick moving forwards (Buddy and Willo).Went missing in the final against us too!

Sydney want Brad Miller, are hopeful of signing Darren Jolly to a new 4-year contract, and are chasing both Kane Tenace and Justin Sherman.

Melbourne want to retain Miller (who is out of contract) but have had no luck in shopping Travis Johnstone around.

Paul Hasleby has not made any progress on a new contract with Fremantle, while Peter Bell has yet to indicate whether he'll play on next season.

Sam Power has requested a trade from the Dogs.

This might sound silly but I think we really need taller mids.

I know we keep saying that we need another tall backman, but Clarko didn't play murphy or dawson much at all this season, which suggests that the structure doesn't demand another one. Of course, one of these guys will/should take Smithy's place, but I don't think we need one as badly as we think.

Also the small, crumbing forward - with a resting midfielder in the box and M Williams, we should have enough ground skill to cover it. Again it's a question of structure - we look silly when we stick religiously to 4 forwards when the opposition puts 7 back, they run it out so easily. I think we've got the players for it though.

I would love some mids who can have a bit more presence through size. Look at Judd, he's 6'3". Think of Brisbane's power group of Voss, Black Lappin and Akermanis, Aker was the only midget, whereas we've got several.

Would love an Embley-type, are there any out there?

Suggestions in the Herald Sun today that we may look at Shannon Watt from the Kangas. Ignoring the club he currently plays for, does anyone rate him?

Ill rate him.A big fat zero out of ten!!!!!!!!! Surely they cant be serious looking at him. Arent we the ones who usually dish off our garbage to the Roos not the other way around.please no.I would rather draft the bloke on the side of my page.

Shannon Watt is a useless hack

shannon watt is not the best defender in the game, although tall, he is quite useless.
interesting to not, at this point, Hawthorn is the only team to get all their players under contract

Ummm, I think you better stick to the metric system kid. That would make Juddy a kp player.

I don't think we're under-estimating our need for a tall defender. Sure we won a few games this year, but so did Port, who won a few more and were severely exposed for not having a permanent defensive stucture like the cats did.

We could go alright in the next few years without another key defender, but we would have a very slim chance of winning a premiership, which is why we fuss so much.

Murphy - not key defender
Dawson - not good enough to be a 1st team key defender.

That was this year, maybe in the future that will change. Their lack of inclusion reflected their form not anythign else imo.
