“…we(Channel 7) couldn’t think of a better way to launch the season than with an exclusive behind-the-scenes series with the most exciting club in the competition.

“Fans of all teams were captivated by the Hawks in 2024, and we cannot wait to take Australians behind the curtain of a gruelling pre-season at Waverley Park with some of the competition’s most popular players.”

The replies to this are going to be glorious.
This got me going.
Hokball becoming HokTV and I'm loving it.

Would much prefer they do this after they’ve actually achieved something

Most of these guys have played in sides that have finished bottom 3 for the majority of their careers

Alan Jeans would be rolling in his grave at the thought

I think it's good to do it for the 2025 premier rather than the original idea of the 2024 runner up that embarrassed themselves again and just had coach quit.

But I agree we must stay focused and I didn't like the Ash Klein quote of "keen to back up on our success" or something to that effect.

We haven't had success we will hope to continue our improvement and transition to success.

Nothing but a cup is success, McLelland trophy was good but we could have won 2 flags in 2024 and some bad luck but also poor execution cost us.

I personally will be very unhappy if I see them smile at training.

It’s not like he claimed that we won the flag.

We did have success in 2024, but we didn’t have the ultimate success.

“We couldn’t have reached the heights that we did in 2024 without our members and fans and as we aim to back up our success in 2025, it is only fitting we give them an inner-sanctum, behind-the-scenes look into our pre-season.

When this doco was announced and how it was going to be about Hawthorn and playing under Sam
Mitchell the very first thing I thought of is this thing is will be bloody good advertising for an OOC or soon to be gun forward.

Yeah you can have other players tell you about Sam but actually being able to see it on screen could be a way of getting the ball rolling on a player looking to make a move to us.

I’m usually of the same thought with this kind of thing. I think it could be a good thing for us. A lot of teams and supporter bases want to roll us now and having a doco without having achieved anything does exactly that. Bums on seats

It's a brave new world mate. The club is trying to get out ahead of the trends with the media and fan engagement.

Does anyone else here remember the 1980s "scoop" on "60 Minutes" which supposedly went BTS on the HFC? It was one bit of footage of the team in a circle yelling out numbers, and then Derm, Dipper, Platts and a couple of others over dinner engaging in banter.

I remember as a teenager looking so forward to it and then being dreadfully disappointed.

Hokkywood Hokumentaries are great for the socials.

Keep it up.

Geez, he sounds like a very grounded and thoughtful guy.
That he wants to work with underprivileged kids and help them gain the opportunities he was given is a window into a good human.

Seems we’ve got ourselves another player high on character.

On field talent aside that is 2 x high character guys in Barrass and Battle. Still a D– offseason though 😂

Maybe he should’ve stayed at the Saints to help develop their draftees. I couldn’t think of more underprivileged kids.

I'm resisting the urge for another Zoolander reference...

Sounds like the next pre season camp will be either be over at somewhere like Harvard or in Africa working with under priviledged kids. Building a great list of boys we can be proud of both on and off the field.

“I feel like the values and morals align the way the Hawks hold themselves, in terms of what I connected with kind of there, what Sam (Mitchell) underpins."

Straight from the Travis Cloke playbook.
