The minute that Geelong went down there and thrashed them it was going to be tough. We had a host of things going against us off the field which we couldn’t control including injuries to key personnel. Ginnivan’s tweet played into that but it certainly wasn’t the only thing they would have been using as motivation. It is essentially Hinkley’s job to find stuff (even if it’s random and innocuous) that can get them firing on all cylinders and to his credit he did that. From our side of the ledger I think we lucked out by even having to fly interstate in the first place. The ladder had us playing the cats in front of a home crowd at the G in F2 (even more reason to dislike Geelong). Unfortunately that’s just how the cookie sometimes crumbles but we came out the other end with a pretty honourable showing given those circumstances. Losing sucks but the horizons are really bright and that’s what we have to focus on really.

Looking at Sicily’s time fwd this year, probably amounted to a whole game in minutes played. 5 goals and a whisker away from winning 3 games off his own boot.

We also should have beaten them in both games. These losses have been on our inexperience rather than Ports ability.

First game - yes.

But last night - any objective analysis would demonstrate we would have (happily) pinched that game from a side which could have put us away in the second term.

We were more efficient and thus stayed in the game all the way through - which was admirable.

To suggest we deserved to win that game is…..a bit of a stretch TBH
