I wouldn't read anything into that. You can report a crime at any police station, no doubt she had her reasons for reporting it at Box Hill.

Way to many unknowns in the whole thing at this stage to be drawing any conclusions for mine.
Probably her local police station. I know I would feel comfortable going to my local than some random station I don't live near.

Name, or names will be released, IF/WHEN charges are laid. Only know all idiots are speculating, and putting names out there. It is not a good look for our club, and any thread with names should be deleted.

Can't wait for all this to be behind us, and we can concentrate on what we do best, win premierships!

There is no legal reason not to name the players. It's not defamation. It would only be a illegal if a suppression order was granted like a few years ago in another Hawthorn incident. If they are charged a suppression is also granted, but whilst it is only an investigation the names can be printed with immunity.

Yes. In some Australian states, the accused cannot be identified until after committal in sexual offence cases, but this doesn't appear to be the case in Victoria. There are restrictions in Victoria if the alleged victim could be identified by naming the accused, but I don't think that is the case in this instance. Defamation is a potential issue here, due to the nature of the alleged offence, but a good reporter/editor with the input of a lawyer should be able to write it in such away that it passes the test (truth is a defence, etc, but they still have to be able to PROVE the truth of what they report). That said, there must be some reasonable concerns about defamation at the moment, because no media have named them yet, even though they already know who they are.

Robbo?

The herald sun did, which side of the debate would have robbo been on I wonder. It's an editorial decision.
I seem to remember his name being one of the journos on the byline, and he then defended the decision on 360 in the face of criticism from Floggard and Bomber.

Sad situation.

Just don't understand how someone could be sexually assaulted in a taxi and be so distraught by the incident that they continue to hang out with the perpetrator and let it happen again later that night again...

Am I missing something???

It's been covered before but there's any number of scenarios where this could happen. If her drink was spiked etc.. she might not have been able to consent or fight back is just one of the plausible scenarios. Again, as has been said before, speculating about how it might have happened or what happened or why would she etc.. is doing nobody any favours.

So it's doing no one any favours but you are still happy to speculate? Thanks for your contribution.

names being leaked every where.....decision by the club to be made.

Nothing the club can do without thr permission of the players and you would think that situation would only come as a result of other players who aren't liking there names being bandied about. If it was me, I certainly wouldn't be giving them permission

And yet you choose a worst case scenario to speculate on - well done

Yeah fair point. I'd also add that the whole matter is obviously being handled by the authorities so they would have a say into what the club can release and how

So you don't believe a girl has any right to change her mind about having sex with someone during the act?

The post you're replying to has nothing to do with a person changing their mind. The post suggests that if you're assaulted in a taxi, you would probably not let the offenders into your house, or you wouldn't go into their house, because ANOTHER assault might be on the cards.

Yeah thats all pretty hard to fathom to be honest...

You probably feel you're more entitled to your opinion because it's a couple Hawthorn players involved. It doesn't work that way unfortunately. You're more entitled to your opinion on this board, no doubt but I'm trying to stop people speculating... what I did is hardly speculation.

And yet you choose a worst case scenario to speculate on - well done

And hardly the worst case scenario.

Please, let's not try and piece together what happened in the taxi, or wherever else.

We have literally zero to go on, and people just end up getting frustrated with what is being speculated or theorised.

People need to understand that people are not always rational when feeling in danger. Just talking generally here, people do all sorts of things, in order to comply when feeling under threat, going with people is one such action. As many have said it is not clear cut at all. We know very little as it is a serious matter, on all sides. I hope if nothing else some people learn a thing or to from this hideous event. Respect is key.

Whenever I see a car on the side of the road broken down, I always get my kids out of the car and walk up to offer help WITH the kids. Two reasons the kids aren't in the car in case someone runs from behind the "broken down" car and hopnin mine adn steal it with them in it, and mainly so the person with the car problem can see I have kids with me and I am concerned about their situation not their body/mind/freedom/submission, simply to help. It's ridiculous that I have to do this, but this is the world we have created. As a teacher, I am constantly on guard to be never alone with a student in a room by myself. Regardless of how much help they need with chemistry. But if we are careful, we can afford the help necessary and not be in a situation where the back of a taxi becomes the talk of the town. The boys are at least stupid, if not completely reprehensible.

SEVERAL Hawthorn teammates are expected to be interviewed about the night a teenage girl has alleged she was r*ped by two players.
The 19-year-old girl has claimed a Hawks premiership winner and a squad member r*ped her after they all met at Richmond’s Mountain View Hotel on October 8 — five days after the Hawthorn’s historic three-peat.
The pair were scheduled to be interviewed Monday and Tuesday by Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives at Box Hill police station.
The alleged victim has claimed her drink was spiked and her memory of the night was “hazy’’, but she recalled being attacked by two players and suffered related injuries, according to police sources.
The two players are being interviewed by police.
She is understood to have taken a taxi with one or both of the accused from the bar to an Ashwood house where a number of Hawthorn players live.
According to one report both players were in the cab, but another suggests the alleged victim was only accompanied by the younger Hawk, with his mate arriving at the property later.
The young woman has claimed the rape occurred at the house in the early hours of Friday, October 9.
Hawthorn sources say the duo at the centre of the allegations have vigorously professed their innocence.
A source said the two accused and the woman had been joined at the house during the early hours by other teammates.
Their evidence could be critical to the case, as they are understood to have told the club that the alleged victim did not appear “distressed’’.
One of the two accused is believed to have been ordered back from an overseas trip.
The Hawthorn Football Club board discussed the issue at a monthly meeting on Monday, where directors were updated with all available facts.
The virtue of naming the pair was also debated, but officials had no comment.
Victoria Police spokesman Adam West said: “We are investigating a report of a sexual offence in Ashwood on October 9. As the matter is ongoing it would be inappropriate to comment further.’’
