With all this stuff going on, I'm so glad we didn't get Jake Carlisle.
Putting aside what's going on at the moment, I for one didn't want J.C. any way, given his attitude towards the Hawks, saying if all fails with the cross to St Kilda he would be prepared to go to Hawthorn, but his first choice would definitely be the Saints. It would be taken for granted that any player that has the opportunity to come to our great and successful club would be breaking the door down to get in. He would have the opportunity to win a Flag medal with us, but doesn't have much chance of that with the Saints in the foreseeable future. Suppose money has to be in the mix with this one.

He made a commitment to the Saints, and stuck to his word!

And luckily for us, he did

Good for him

Seriously, this is the common answer.

A woman must not go out, to prevent herself getting attacked. What an absolute stuffed up world we live in.

great answer.. BUT even staying at home is not safe as rape is often the reason for break and enters

This is my biggest fear.... The break in and enter and I'm constantly locking all doors and windows as my wife thinks we live in a safe and happy world.
We do have a very much happy life togeher and I won't let anything take that from me...
In saying that I do watch a lot of horror movies so that doesn't help with my paranoia.

Bless you, I didn't mean to stir up fear..... just getting a bit tired of all the victim blaming still around

Does anyone know when we should expect to hear if charges are going to be laid or not? Surely everyone who needs to be questioned has been and with the Ashwood house searched and the taxi footage assumedly been obtained there is no further evidence to be obtained.

They probably only get to charge someone once with each alleged incident so they'd take their time to collate all the evidence before going ahead with that.
Naturally. But does anyone know how long these things tend to take? Should we expect it this week? A few months? Well into next year?

Lab results will depend on the backlog. I don't know what it's like in VIC but QLD has like a 6 month backlog. That will constitute some of the physical evidence.

I'd say the investigators will have a pretty good idea what happened after talking to all parties now. I would say we won't hear anything if the investigation concludes without charge either. No parties in custody, nobody named officially so no press release necessary.

I also would think that Hawthorn wouldn't bother to release anything either as it draws attention to the issue again. Besides the thread nearly dropped off the Hawks main page so it's only a matter of time before the general public will have forgotten.

Just my two cents.

Surely if charges aren't applied the club would release a short statement. Doubt they'd share it on social media but at least put it out there that the investigation has concluded and no charges were applied. Otherwise it just looks like it was all swept under a rug and the players who have been named in social media get no public closure.

Very good point about the sweeping under the rug as this is how others will say if nothing is brought up especially since the Hodge debate.

After the Milne case debacle the police will make absolutely certain there are no such blunders again.....and rightly so.
Don't underestimate the Victorian Police.

I can only assume the investigation is ongoing, and that we won't know much more until the Police decide they either have a case, or they do not.
This could go on for some time yet.

The waiting game must be horrible for all involved.

This is the type of situation where you're damned if you do and damned if you don't: don't complain and don't explain.

Wait until the investigation is completed before considering what should be done. That may take weeks or even months, so don't hold your breath.

The scenario I was addressing in that post was one where the investigation is concluded and charges aren't applied but none of us would really know because neither VicPol or the club make a statement saying as much. Highly unlikely but that could potentially be the scenario right now.

Yes, I get that.
It is a difficult situation because the police may say little or nothing at all, and anything we say may only fuel the fires.
