Did Mugiwara56 pursue the LOTO about an offence that was found to have not happened by the police? And now making unsubstantiated accusations about footy players he/she doesn't know? Sounds like this peanut belongs in an institution.

Mugiwara56 posted yesterday with facts that had not become public knowledge (Claiming he had inside knowledge) and his post was deleted. So far his post is spot on and it was only late this afternoon that the media outlets backed up his claims.

Sorry, this is hard to keep up with. Was Mugiwara56 the one who posted the names on Twitter, and called the players rapists? That's not factual, and, if the players end up not being guilty, that's probably libel.

(though I'm not great with defamation law - thoughts strategy?)

I just find him offensive in general ;) Tagged you as you're the only mod I know of, but I will happily report his posts.

Dont be so soft, this is a rumours thread, just stick him on ignore and dont waste the mods time by being a button masher

He didn't name anyone in the post I read yesterday but he did provide information that the media outlets have reported on today, there was also other information that he posted that has not been reported in the mass media, his information was somewhat obscure and I believe verifies his claim of insider knowledge. So he has been the only reliable source of information in the whole 46 pages.

I think you're getting a little confused. That was a different poster who posted said information.

I honestly can't believe they give any details until there is a case.
Robo reckons that because we know it's hawthorn players they are all being tarnished, but if a victim isn't prepared to put their own name to the allegations then they shouldn't be allowed to release any details of the offenders.

Obviously if they are guilty throw the book at them.
are you serious? jeeessuusss christttt

One other thing about the supposed "victim shaming"… Does anyone know her name? Has it been revealed on Twitter or Facebook?

Can someone please PM her details so I can pass it onto everyone else I know and we can all spam her Instagram and Twitter accounts?

Nah, obviously I'm not serious… but do you see the difference? There's an enormous imbalance when you have a complainant whose identity will be remain undisclosed right through this whole process compared to two footballers who have been accused of rape and had their names broadcast over the airwaves.

You want women who have been r*ped to be named by the media?

Did you not read the last paragraph, where he said he wasn't serious, but was saying those words for effect?

Ironic that you think players should be named without even charges being laid, given the events of 2010's post season.

I don't think players should be named but if they are it is hardly in the same ball park as naming a rape victim. Surely we want to do everything possible to support women to report the men who rape them? As for the poster who I quoted, he may claim not to be serious but he still believed enough to post it. I have no idea who the Hawthorn players are and quite frankly I don't care.

The difference is there's two alleged rapists and one alleged rape victim.
A RAPE VICTIM
, do you really think a rapist deserves the same niceties as the person they r*ped?
I don't think the names should be released until there's a case, but I'm almost certain it happened, the vast majority of rape claims are legitimate - so I don't really see any problem with people wanting to know who's been accused of this.

His post meant the opposite of this, he was saying that all names should kept out of the media until the incident has come to a conclusion.

And they mostly have been. It was one unofficial facebook group that leaked it. With the advent of social media that is just something that is not possible anymore unfortunately.
