Without naming names, are they young rookies or senior players?

I'll be specific for you, it was Hawka

So a witness cant give an account of what they saw?
Yes, they can, but police and judges know that witness accounts can be compromised or simply wrong. Also, that was not a witness account, it was a media report laying the groundwork for the idea that she wanted it and enjoyed it. You know, just another **** who didn't regret it til later.

The real spin has begun.

This kind of attitude makes me sick, just because a woman wants and enjoys sex does not make her a ****!

You guys really are quite naive if you think the police aren't going to just drag this out like they did with Milne.
These things tend to be quite long. Also, didn't the Milne case take a long time because prosecutors initially refused to take it further as they said the case was too weak. This also does not seem to be an issue unique to football, sexual assault cases can be notoriously difficult to get from a point of 'we think it happened, to a point of 'we can prove it happened'.

Conspiracy theorists are quick to blame AFL power if these things do not run quickly and smoothly, reality is they almost never do.

A typical sex offence investigation can take many months or even years, especially if it's referred to the OPp for advice. That's not dragging it out, that's conducting a proper investigation. It would be reckless to do otherwise.

The Milne situation was dragged out because of a poor original investigation and process. That should not be repeated with better systems and oversight these days.

Seems like they will know quickly enough if her story is at least in part true. She went straight to the police so they will have been able to get her to hospital for a rape kit and blood test - to see if she had any drugs in her system.

That said, the police will still probably take a year or more to get anything done. Then if charges are laid, the courts will take a couple more years.

The legal system being the furthest thing from a justice system possible.

Just shocking really. Who would of thought such a disciplined team could produce this after a 3 peat to spoil it...

Rather than risk liability issues in naming the players (didn't Hurchy get sued for falsely naming Kosi back in the Milne/Montagna case?) the media tactic is to name the club, let the scuttlebutt get out of control and then call on the club to name the players to end the scuttlebutt.
