Falling like flies, but as we know in the Boy’s Club all will be redeemed with a bit of education and then brought back nicely into the fold after a suitable amount of time. Think McGuire, Walker etc.
Still these recent accusations are really next level so don’t know how they’ll spin things this time.

One thing Melbourne is not short of is private school old boys ready to fill executive jobs.

What rubbish. No one in Australia between 2005-2021 (the Clarkson years) would not know how disgusting the actions alleged are. I don’t buy the “we all have a problem“ line. This is the old Doug and Dynsdale Piranah excuse:

”It’s a fair cop but society‘s to blame.”

If proven, those individuals involved should cop 100% of the blame and penalty and not try and deflect the blame onto others.

People seem to be having a problem processing this one: “these are historical allegations”/“we all have a problem”. No they aren’t and no we don’t. Certain individuals are alleged to have acted disgustingly and it is their cross to bear, not mine.

I am all for reviewing these events when all is done and dusted to see if there are wider lessons that can be learnt, but that’s a task for another day. Right now, certain individuals have been accused of acting in a disgusting racist way, at a time when anyone in Australia knew such acts were disgusting and racist.

Trying to blame society reeks of an individual’s PR machine trying to soften the blow.

Don't buy that for an instant. How can anyone not believe that telling an indigenous player to separate from their family is racist in the extreme? Did they tell non-indigenous players to do the same?

AFL media excuses are starting to roll. That's just as disgraceful as the initial allegations.
I don't think that RoCo is referring to Hawthorn's actions with that last comment, but more other organisations in general society.

But he is hitting right on what will probably be the AFL's PR defence. Focus as much as possible on how society in general has problems with racism.

Breaking news- Channel TEN reporting that the investigation into the allegations made by Hawthorn players will be conducted by an independent tribunal of four people lead by a Senior Counsel. It will not involve the AFL Integrity Unit. If true, it is a promising start.
Should of done the same with the Crows Camp.
We all know the outcome there don’t we:rolleyes:

Interesting wording. He doesn't actually deny the specific claims made against him. He just denies 'any wrongdoing'. Is he saying he didn't do it, or just that he doesn't think it was wrong?

That's a nothing statement. If I was a North fan that statement would worry me immensely.

It’s a script from his legal team.
That’s exactly what we are going to get from both him and Fagan from here on.

First we had the 'i was there but I had no idea that was going on' from peripheral goodblokes to sow doubt.

Now rohan with play no.2 from the boys club rule book. Sure there's a problem, but it's everyone's problem.

For phase 3, look out for the backgrounding of reporters as the the character of the complainants.

Phase 4 is revisionism (they thought I meant get an abortion, what I really meant was have you tried the AB at that kebab joint).

Phase 5 is check out everything fages and clarko have done for indigenous folks. The 'I couldn't possibly be a campaigner, I've given presents to that Christmas appeal every year' defence.

I can't recall any names but I'm assuming there would have been indigenous players at Centrals when Clarkson was coaching there, so it would be interesting to know if there were any issues back then.

Regardless of the above, and even though I wouldn't have complained at the time if he got the gig at Alberton, I have long been of the opinion he is a sh*tstain of a bloke!

Back in his playing days some of his behind the play stuff was sheer thuggery, eg his punch to the back of the head of a Carlton player in that exhibition game in London when he then ran away to avoid any retribution, and his hit on a very young and unsuspecting Nathan Eagleton at footy park when the ball was at least 50 metres away.

Maybe I'm wrong feeling this way, but I'm hoping the campaigner is found to be guilty of those horrid racist allegations during his time at the dawks, and he is forced to leave the AFL with his reputation in tatters.
