Hawthorn's involvement in the drug saga?

Good to see AD going after clubs who dare to suggest that Essendon maybe benefiting from using performance enhancing drugs. It shows real bottle to say show anger towards clubs who aren't cheating while at the same time claiming that it is not certain that Essendon used PEDs even though they also claim the material injected into its players was authorised by WADA as per a letter presented by Dank and Dank has confirmed that the substances injected were banned substances. Super stuff AD :thumbsu: :rainbow:

AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou has accused some clubs of engaging in "scurrilous innuendo" to explain Essendon's unbeaten start to the season.

Fair go Brishawk - even though the bombers called for the enquiry, even though they said that Dank said it was okay to inject themselves with the anti-fat juice, they still haven't come out and officially said they did it, so AD has every right to be ringing up sponsors and tell them not to jump ship, he has every right to tell clubs to get their own clubs in order before daring to suggest the bombers are cheats and every right to tell the major stakeholders, the general public that he is not going to bother keeping them informed and they can just darn wait until he has all his ducks in a row

all in all a good days work for an organisation that places integrity on a golden pedastel.

Woweee, try and cover this one over Vlad and Jimmy!

STEPHEN Dank, Essendon's former sports scientist, ordered a banned peptide in quantities sufficient to treat a team of AFL players, according to a former associate.

Records of Mr Dank's purchasing process reveal he sourced the peptide Thymosin beta 4 from Melbourne biochemist Shane Charter while working for Essendon.

In a text message sent in January 2012, Mr Charter asks: "Which peptides do you need next?"

Mr Dank replies: "Thymosin beta 4, CJC-1295."

The Herald Sun has previously reported that Essendon has been unsure which type of thymosin its players had been given.

Thymosin beta 4 is prohibited for athletes under anti-doping rules.

It has been listed as prohibited from "at least 2011", an Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority spokesman said.

You are having too much fun mate.

FYI. The article may give confirmation as which type of Thymosin Hird and Dank were discussing here.

The time has to be fast approaching when not even fanbois like Robbo and Vlad can defend Essendon anymore.
The pieces of the puzzle are all there, when are we going to see some action from Ronald McDonald house?

Tanking, fixture rigging, non-compliant paper bag player payments, unethical finals rescheduling, unequal and unfair free agency player compensations, dubious MRP findings and penalties, a drug policy that encourages drug use, behind the scenes involvement in assisting franchise clubs and selected others to get marquee players to their teams, dubious player awards including Brownlows and AA nominations, forcing clubs to use other grounds for their home matches, due to poor scheduling and contracting...

+1 (like a million times)

The thing is .... the more that Andrew D tries to fight this story the more Caroline Wilson and the Herald Sun will try and dig more information out.

And it just seems to be getting worse and worse. More and more dodgy information is being leaked.

Essendon have consistently lied from the begining.

I'm just astounded at their behavior.

I do love that other clubs are sticking the boot in and dobbing them in.

I'm actually starting to feel sorry for the weapon, forgotten it would seem in all of this - he is the only escape goat ATM and to date there does seem very few links between him, obese players, tanning and injections. It would seem quite bizzatly that the internal enquiry by Ziggy didn't rate him important enough to interview even though he has been the only one stood down - it would seem the question now needs to be asked "who is auditing the auditor of this report"

Wilson is certainly treating him with some concern.

Wilson is certainly treating him with some concern.

It would appear she has gone to great lengths to show that geelong players and officials still hold him in high regard
To me this also indicates the peds were not a factor at the cats otherwise they would still be maintaining their distance. Unless of course "keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer" applies here - *puts tin hat on

Watch the four corners story on Charters and you get a pretty clear picture about what's going on here. The problem is most likely far more wide spread, with players/ athletes/ clubs far ahead of the drug testers. How they get around it is laughable, testing themselves at an accredited lab to ensure they keep within safe limits.

It seems AD is doing his best to put out the spot fires before a full blown bush file sweeps through the AFL. I'd say there's a lot more going on behind the scenes, with a cover up the best case scenario for a lot of people at all levels. Lets hope the journalists have the guts and will to dig and uncover some truth, however, I am afraid many will be shy to bite the hand that feeds them and for the others the giant AFL machine will grind them up and spit them out.

The 'other player' being investigated would now appear to be Nathan Bock.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/tea...ken-banned-drugs/story-fn6pe9hv-1226640669989

GOLD Coast star Nathan Bock is embroiled in the drugs-in-sport investigation because of concerns he may have been given banned peptides.
Bock was allegedly given a substance described to him as an amino acid that was cleared for athletes to use.

The Herald Sun can reveal he is the AFL player being investigated by the AFL and the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority.

The Suns defender is being investigated over the peptide CJC-1295, which is banned for use by athletes.

Investigators are examining claims Bock injected himself over several weeks in December 2010.

It is alleged that some injections took place at Bock's home.

Investigators are examining what role Suns' staff played in this activity.

Stephen Dank, the figure at the centre of Australian sport's drugs scandal, worked for the Suns between November 2010 and February 2011. Dean Robinson also worked for the Suns at that time.

Hadn't thought about this until today but sure the AFL poaching the Hawks football manager is a 100% confirmation that the Hawks have zero involvement or exposure to the drugs scandal? Just a thought.
I hope you are right. Of course it could be that we are a big part of the scandal but that the AFL (with the help of Evans) are banking on being able to cover it up.

I'll take that as well :D although not many on this board would believe AD or the AFL would do the Hawks many favours.

I do remember Mitchell's comments where he stated that the Hawks don't really do much of that stuff which I liked as a comment as well. Hopefully it is true.

Haha the one thing you can count on is that AD will look after AD so all we need to do is stay on his side and everything else will be taken care of :)

For anyone like me who questions what Vlad knew of this entire saga in 2012.

From March 2012.....
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...-physedders-20120315-1v824.html#ixzz2KUbIFguo
The AFL will slap clubs with heavy fines if the league can prove medical staff are overruled on player health issues.

The league is becoming concerned that fitness and conditioning personnel are having too much say at some clubs.

Referring to them as "phys-edders", league chief executive Andrew Demetriou said sports science and fitness personnel had their place in the game.

"They need to understand that their influence should be limited to how they put their team out on the park, but that's where it stops," Demetriou said.

"The decision makers at clubs (relating) to medical issues are the club doctors, that's in our rules and regulations.

"If anyone is not abiding by that they should be very careful, because there are strict financial sanctions.

"Phys-edders don't overrule doctors."

http://m.theage.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/acc-wants-three-years-jail-for-drugs-20130513-2jidr.html
The Australian Crime Commission is pushing for a minimum jail term of three years for anyone found guilty of supplying peptides or other performance-enhancing substances to athletes.
And in a further bombshell, the ACC alleges that ''some coaches and support staff within the NRL and AFL have orchestrated and/or condoned the use of prohibited substances and/or methods of administration''.

Hmmmm.

They've stuck together pretty well so far at Windy Hill but it's going to get to a point where one of the people at EFC will realize the jigs up, self preservation will take over and he'll tell all bringing the whole facade crashing down. Then it will be first in best served and every man for himself.
