Nah, not enough A grade talent on their list. Well coached but line for line a long way off some of the other top 8 teams.
Which players do you believe to be A Grade on Hawthorns list, who has the capacity to become that and how many would you say is needed/in comparison to other teams?

In the image of Sam. A player overlooked in drafts, transformed to a top line player and still dissed by Wayne carey after 4 premierships

So why aren’t Gold Coast smashing the competition with all the talent they’ve had access to?

My view on the list would be as such. The bolded are players I believe have the ability to step up into the A tier in time - All Aus, top 10 in their position types.

A - Sicily, Moore

B+ - Meek, Day, Worpel, Newcombe, Impey, Amon

B - Lewis, Scrimshaw, D'Ambrosio, Chol, Macdonald, Nash, Ginnivan, Hardwick, Weddle

C - Dear, Watson, Ward, Frost, Reeves, Jiath, Gunston, Breust, Mackenzie, Maginness*

D - Morrison, Stephens, DGB, Ryan, McCabe, Hustwaite Serong, Butler, Blanck, Phillips, Ramsden, Scaife, Mitchell, Bennetts, B.Macdonald, O'Sullivan, Tucker

Still think they're a few pieces away, need a couple more A grade talents in the side before there would be any chance of a dynasty. Freo and the Swans are better set up for one at this stage imo.

I’d like to bet the swans and dockers aren’t going to return a dynasty in next few years.

Heeney has only just arrived and he’s getting on a bit. They’re always trhreabouts, bu thir finals? Hit and miss

Possibly, but the Swans list is incredibly well set up for years to come. Gulden, Warner, Lizard, McInerny, Mcdonald etc. They'll be up and about for many years imo.

Severely underrating a few players here, not to blame tho as there’s a distinct difference between talent and result/production.

Ward, Mackenzie being C is laughable + Watson, all definitely higher.
Dear will be higher
Lewis as a player is higher but understand the viewpoint with injury
MacDonald and Weddle should be higher
Impey lower

Players like McCabe who you haven’t seen yet is a supremely talented player, it isn’t about the talent on the list as you exclaimed it’s the production of such which is fair given the age demographics of alot of these players.

I think many of the players on the list have plenty of upside, but for now thats where I'd have them seeded. Exciting times ahead for Hawks fans, just not convinced the list has the makings of a premiership just yet.

Obviously an over reaction thread, but they are an impressive side. It doesn’t matter how either Adelaide side is playing, to go over there and win by 10 goals is a fair effort. Would be interesting to see what Hawks supporters suggest changed after 6-7 rounds when they were playing bad footy, or if it was just a case of trusting what they were doing would work out eventually.

Yea Hardwick the best small defender in the league is a B

If they make the 8 (and I think they can) every other finals team will not want to meet them. A pretty good chance to win it all, if not this year then next year.

Key Back: Sam Frost
Key Forwards: Mabior Chol, Calsher Dear

This side will get ironed out by a good team in finals if they make it. Not good enough in the key positions.

They are now at a stage where they should be targeting areas of need through trade and free agency.

We weren't playing bad footy every week. The Essendon, Geelong and Collingwood games weren't terrible. The Melbourne and Gold Coast games were awful. The Sydney game was strange as I didn't think we were that bad, Sydney just punished every slight mistake we made.

Apart from the Gold Coast game we usually played 1 or 2 decent quarters even when we losing all those games. Now we are playing at least 3 good quarters every week
