Toast How can this Hawthorn side be stopped?

I like Kemp. Still unsure what his ceiling is.

Cottrell and Owies probably the two I missed.

I mean no disrespect in any of this discussion either. I'm still firm in the belief that at the top end the Blues are almost untouchable, however as you go down the list it doesn't hold a consistent line like the current Hawks side.

Blues in the premiership window.
Hawks hopefully close to approaching one.
I think Kemp will either play on the wing or midfield next year, or seek new opportunities elsewhere.

We beat you and your slow as treacle mob by 6+ goals on the MCG

See you in a few weeks
We've already beaten you on the G by 7 goals this season. Not sure where this confidence is coming from.

You started what 7-0, nowhere near that now, not even close
We started 0-5 and are now blowing teams off the park kicking 20 goals or finding ways to win when behind against better teams than Geelong.

Games at GMHBA are an anomaly and the ground is cigar shaped and ridiculous.
As I said, see you soon on a proper sized ground, if your boys can keep up that is

They’ve shown they struggle against quality opposition, so they’ll be stopped with 2 losses in a row against top 8 sides

Great fixturing... Clubs have already played others twice and yet not played some once. We don't play the Eagles until last round.
By waiting until the last round you probably beat them by 130 instead of the normal 100

Have we? In the last 12 weeks we have struggled once against Geelong. During that time we have beaten the current 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 8th placed teams. Also lost to 7th but were up by 41 points against them before it fell apart

Yeah, I cant quite figure out how a forward line of Moore, Ginnivan, Watson, Breust and Macdonald playing for a team who have a major focus on ground ball gets could POSSIBLY have the most free kicks for high tackles in the forward 50.

Absolute mystery.

The only chance of a game if we were fully healthy is Frost because we don't have a 2nd KPD and even then he wouldn't be a lock. Jiath, Watson, Bruest wouldn't get a game at this stage of their careers.

Watson would easily be best 22 for Carlton.

Feel like it's the one position Carlton aren't stacked in.

Noticed they flop around a bit playing for free kicks when the Cats played them. Not just one noticeable player like Corey, but quite a few in the team, definitely coached.

No team worth their salt should be losing to Port Adelaide at Marvel at this time of year.

What if the Blues lose to the Pies this week? I think they really struggle on the expanse of the MCG.

Does that soften them up even more for the Hawks the following week? Are the Blues totally bereft of backbone? Or do they rally and dig in to win the games they need to?

I’m honestly not confident they do. CULTURE is a massive thing in footy that helps you win when the chips are down.

Don't know if Champion Data has this stat but I would love to see the total or AVG per game ground balls inside 50. I suspect Hawthorn small forwards might get more than their fair share of opportunities to put their head over the footy inside 50.

Always..... Since stats were collected, Hawks are dead last on the overall free kick ladder percentage

No surprise seeing Geelong in the top half

Not happy at all that the brown and yellow are winning games regularly again, hoping the Giants can snuff and nip this little resurgence of theirs in the butt as soon as possible and send them spiralling down towards the bottom where they righfully belong. But not to toot Geelong's own horn or anything they did give them a good old fashion spanking just a few weeks ago. So anybody interested in stopping them should be replaying that recording as much as possible and taking notes furiously about how they can be dismantled.

No Calsher Dear that day. We don't lose when he plays. (Port game excluded as technically we should have won if 18 seconds didn't incorrectly get added to the game)

Toby reportedly seen down in Canberra this morning with a line marker, reducing the wing boundaries by 20 metres each side.

Frost is a lock because he’d also let Gov roam and free Weitering to do more.

Jiath would, Ollie Hollands gets games for gods sake.

Watson would, the only small forward who is any decent at Carlton is Owies, Williams has been pretty good since going down there too, Fantasia, Motlop etc are not getting games over Watson.

Breust would or would be close (40+ goals last year) and when fit now he has been good. People have short memories, Carlton’s small forwards are average at best.

Frost is no guarantee to play given his lapses each game. It's the same reason Lewis Young was pushed out of the team last year and remained on the outer since.

Ollie Hollands doesn't get a game at full health as Docherty would be playing wing with Acres instead.

Watson will end up a star but right now he's no better than Martin or Williams when healthy at this stage. I'd take both over Watson in 2024 easily.

Breust... Maybe a few years ago. He's bog average now, will retire within the next year or two and be remembered as one of the best to do it, but those days are a long way behind him.
