Possibly the most favourable draw I've ever seen.

No away games until round 9.
except of course the Adelaide footy fest
and then
Adelaide @ Adelaide
Giants @ Sydney
Sydney @ Sydney
in the next 4

Freo is the only interstate side we don't play away at

still better than the last 2 years' draws tho

Which ones of those would you consider best 22 at the moment?

Steele, King, Wood, Membrey, McKenzie??

And who would they replace from the Essington game?

Steele
King
Wood - isn't out yet, not sure if they are messing with us in saying he's a test for next week
Membrey
McKenzie - might struggle to get his wing position back with Hill moving and Wood playing so well. Can certainly do Hills role though
Hayes - (2nd Ruck/ resting fwd) might not even get on the park this year, maybe Caminiti has gone past him already
Billings - some don't want him back but I really want to see what he would do in a much better-organized side, really think he'll surprise
Webster - Patton will go back into Webster's role I'd assume

who'd miss out

Bytel
Patton
Byrnes
Cordy
Caminiti/Phillipou

beyond that it's stiff pickings, the kids have really stepped up, it's only the fwd line that's heavily compromised going in the 17% conversion rate from fwd entries

Seriously?

You'd have to think King, Steele, Wood, Membery and Webster are automatic when fit. Coffield, Jones and Billings - not automatic but if they are in form they are right in the mix.

Coming out is probably Cordy, Caminiti, Bytel, Byrnes, Paton, Philipou.

At least Dan Hanneberry isn't clogging the injury list any more.

St Kilda had one of the worst fixtures in the comp the last two years running.

This year's is fair. Not the easiest by any stretch, but fair.

Of course these things can only be properly judged in hindsight, when it's known how good each double-up opponent was.

I would say King, Steele and Membrey automatic.

At the start of the year, I would've said Billings, Jones, Coffield, McKenzie and Hayes were all best 22. But not automatic. Given the way the team's playing, they'll have to earn their way in.

With the small/mid backs, it's an interesting situation given Coffield and McKenzie both missed plenty of footy last year. Paton missed the year before. There hasn't been much time with Paton, McKenzie, Webster, Coffield all fit. NWM there too. Meanwhile Stocker's come in and doing alright. If they're all fit it'll be an interesting selection dilemma. Much like Hayes/Caminiti.

Surely this is a troll, They probably have worse list that currently sits in the Top 8.

I would say our list is pretty good if we can be 3-0 with so many best 22 players out injured, that shows we have good depth unlike some other clubs.

Yep, the worst list until it isn’t… It’s all subjective. Just cause the external narrative has been that it’s a bad list, doesn’t necessarily make it true. Just like how the narrative that Richmond are a contender when in reality they’re not, they’re overrated and just making up the numbers. Tiges rely on their top 5 players more so than any other current top 8 team by a fair margin.

We have a very even spread. Which is shown by how well we’ve coped with injuries so far. If we keep winning, then all of a sudden is it a good list or just luck?

Definitely Steele, King, Membrey and Webster (RTB loves Jimmy). I’m not counting Wood cos he’s now fit. The others on the injury list are 15-25 best on list types and as demonstrated so far this year can be replaced.

Steele and King are the big outs though. Along with Sinclair, Wilkie and Marshall they are irreplaceable. I guess it’s similar to you guys missing Cripps and Curnow/McKay in terms our impact to your 22.
