FTA-TV How I Met Your Mother Part 2

To find out who the mother finally is.

With the writers chucking in the line "She was the last girl I dated before your mother" seemed like they were saying 'hang in there, we're almost done'.

Characters have started becoming parodies of themselves this season, I actually thought it was ok up until then end of last season but it's become almost cringeworthy now, fall off in quality has almost been as bad as the U.S version of the Office, and that's a fair accomplishment.

Is it my hearing coming good again but have they started to chuck in audience laughs? I despise that!
I thought they always had it? I think they just tone it down/not always add it in depending on the episode.

Thought it was a pretty good episode actually.

It's always been there, but some episodes have it ramped up more than others. Of course, there's also those episodes which aren't funny, but the canned laughter is there to try and remind us that something should be funny.

Do you really care any more? I don't. I basically just watch out of loyalty to the characters, which I know is stupid but I do it anyway.

If I came across these current seasons on TV today, there is no way I would bother with it. I'd be more likely to watch Rules of Engagement or some shit like that.

Whoa, that's a bit of an over-reaction...

I found that after not enjoying Seasons 5 & 6 as much as the previous ones, they actually improved on repeat watching. Still not as good as the first 3 seasons but still decent. By holding them to the standard of the first few seasons you're probably always going to be disappointed somewhat. Sure, they could've wrapped it up a lot earlier, but that's a separate discussion. People said the same thing about Seinfeld at the time, but looking back now, there's still a lot of good stuff in those later seasons.

I'm looking forward to the Mother reveal, when everyone says "I can't believe we waited 8/9 seasons for THAT!!!"

Thought that last ep was the best of the season easily.

I'm losing my mind or my new sound system is top notch. I've never noticed it til now and I've seen every episode

I had the exact same thing happen to me in the episode where Victoria first comes back into the fold (before she and Ted ran away together).

Swore black and blue that they'd never had a laugh track before. Went back and watched some of the older episodes and there it was.

I reckon it was the same as Friends. First 3 seasons great, 4th season it went downhill very quickly, and 5th season onwards has been extremely ordinary.

We're all gonna look back on this show in 10 years and wonder why we kept watching.
I still watch plenty of friends whenever I see it on 111. It's a comedy show, it's hit and miss.

You kidding? Friends was gold in seasons 4 & 5 when they decided to make Ross less of the boring straight man and more of a complete ass.

No way. Season 4 was the start of the elaborate on/off Ross/Rachel crap. Plus there was that really annoying British chick. Then at the end they had Chandler and Monica hook up, which ruined both their characters. When they came back in Season 5 Joey had gone from amusingly clueless to functionally ******ed and I was out of there.

Maybe Ross got better (I don't remember) but pretty much everything else about the show got worse. The Joey/Chandler dynamic especially, which was responsible for probably three quarters of the show's best humour.

Friends effectively ceased to exist the moment Ross and Rachel got together.
All the Ross/Rachel lead-up was some of the funniest tv i've ever seen

I usually like the "multiple perspectives" episodes but this one dragged on a bit. Probably because the story wasn't that compelling to begin with, and seeing it three times really rubbed it in.

Props for the reference to The Mouse That Roared though.
