i agree that macca is next to useless these days hes a $400,000 back pocket. Thats due to chronic knee injuries. You forget what he did in his prime however, he was a midfield gun. I am simply saying for a guy that sweeps off half back hodge got way too many votes. Unless he can start doing it for 90% in the middle then he will always be overrated. In terms of judd or hodge or ball, i think we all know that judd is the one to of got, but that happens in drafts all the time doesnt it. You still picked up a very handy player, there should be no need to try and justify any of the three.

My friend, no offence, but it's clear you haven't seen alot of Hawthorn this year. You can forget about this sweeper nonsense.

On the other hand, Hodge needs to play finals and put a couple more great seasons together to be compared to McLeod.

For the purpose of the thread Hodge won't win a Brownlow.

But he will bag 4 Norm Smiths.

He doesn't have a lot of players that draw votes away from him, a lot depends on if Hawks win more game in the future because of other players stepping up or if they win games because of him.

Hang on a minute didnt Everitt poll 13 and Mithcell 9 in 14 games, considering we only won 5 games that is stiff competition!

Hodge is a star, should have had 18 votes last night, which would have had him equal 3rd, from a team that won 5 games, watch out in the next few years, will be unbackable!

Try watching some more football, he has been playing onball for 3 quarters of the season he has the most clearances and centre bounce clearances for the season 2005.

He is only 20 stats behind Judd and Ball for inside 50's considering they have played more games because of finals, not to mention the first quarter of the year Hodge was playing at half back. Its not his fault that he is a ball magnet and is so versatile that he can play and dominate games in more than one position.

Judd is still the main man but Hodge is a very good player and will continue to improve.

Now less time for you typing on this forum and more time actually watching the game called AFL.

thanks champ, watched plenty of the hawks this yr, and hate to tell you but he spends alot of time on a hbf. He wouldnt of got a AA position if he hadnt played there cause he aint good wnough for the midfield. Thats why he has so many inside 50's cause you guys run it out of defense and hes on the end of it. Time for a couple of you hawks guys to get over it, three or four of you jump on any criticism of him. You have a very good player, just not as good as chris judd, who cares, honestly? The saints overlooked him too. Luke ball is much more overrated and more of a workhorse rather than a super talented player. And one point i do agree with is that luke hodge will hit his peak at 28 like roo, while judd will be there at 24. So there is alot of improvement to come from hodge. He will never be a better player than judd though, and i think most of you know it.

Care to explain the fact that he's in the top 15 in the league for contested possessions, no.1 for clearances, no.2 for centre clearances, top 10 for hard ball gets, no.2 at the club for contested marks and in the top 10 for first possession?

Any more pearls of wisdom, idiot.

Clearly you don't watch the games, so READ THE STATS IDIOT!! Aside from being in the top tier for contested possessions and had-ball gets, 1st for clearances, 2nd for Centre Clearances!
What part of that don't you understand, simpleton?

Dal Santo and Cooney and Hodge in the next 7 years, what odds could I get on that ?

15 votes in a side with only 5 wins
pretty good effort I think, in the next 3 years he could have a brownlow

Not long at all if he keeps getting 3 votes in sides that get thrashed. To be fair, Hodge had a great year...I am bitter over Dogs vs. Hawks - where the Dogs won comfortably, West had over 30p's and didn't get a vote (got bog in Herald Sun and The Age)

that was a tough one, but i was probably one of those cases where he was the only hawthorn bloke that stood out, and he played an outstanding game.
i would have hade him and west sharing 3 and 2, but not sure which way round.
it was like the game the hawks played against the bombers. hodges best game for the year by far, and didnt even poll. had something like 36 possessions, 12 clearances, including 10 centre square!!!

West definitely deserved the three votes that day.

I expect he will be a good chance of winning the Brownlow sometime in the next five years. Paul Kelly won the Brownlow in 1995 when the Swans won only eight games and finished 12th. Give him a couple of years' experience and wait for the Hawks to climb a few rungs up the ladder.

dal santo is an overrated tortoise

all the media just drool all over him, the most overrated midfielder inthe comp, bar none

btw, hodge will win one as soon as the hawks make the 8

you never know that little boy who captained the saints this year was apparently the best player in the comp. he showed very little this year even when not injured... can happen to anyone even hodge.
