Raj is going to lose his fifth job because Melbourne's most liveable city tag is under pressure?

LOLSY.

All those other cities that Melbourne is competing with for that tag are also battling the same pandemic.
So it all cancels out.

The real issue is that the pandemic is exposing Melbourne's sordid underbelly of preggers Zoe from Ballarat collaborating with far-right extremists to organise protests.
Hate to be your brain.

And yet it’s pretty much the biggest fu** up.
So was it the school that spread the cases or the family gatherings?

are all the tower cases linked to it?

you might be jumping the gun on nsw...

what kind of weirdo gets a hard on over how their state government handles an issue? Who actually brags about that?

My guess is it all starts with the hotels and international people in quarantine not properly quarantining, and the security guards getting infected. From there it spread to a couple of communities and from there is spread even more broadly.

Im sure the Vic govt know the answer, but they are hiding behind the inquiry so it will be a long time.

What kind of weirdo gets a hard on over their state government despite the fact that it has monumentally ****ed up? SRP tragics and Labor staffers who frequent here. That is who.

I’m assuming you’re not a labor staffer...

Wouldn’t that require many of the security to be Muslim for your theory to stand? A friend worked at Melbourne park for a few years with MSS. I can ask her.

Dickheads ignored rules. Dickheads are from many religions. I can tell you the ones overcrowding wineries out my way and refusing the rules there were not a majority Muslim

they knew it was a thing, but a health thing. remember what dhhs do day to day, its not security and enforcement (the nearest they come is in more the human services areas, now taken over by the ndis)

similar happened with pink batts and dept of environment. they understood the programs needs from an installation and technical perspective, but they have never had to handle the scale of managing compliance and risk with so many suppliers (and their systems woefully managed this because it wasnt a key focus for them)

and with off shore detention. no shock you put the job in the hands of people who run prisons, they treat the detainees as prisoners (and the eventual health and mental health consequences happen)

when your tool is a hammer, every problem you see is a nail. its a common problem in govt
It needs to be treated like any company using subbies

if I hire a builder. And he uses subbies. And they **** up the build, I’m not going to go after the subbies.

sure. It was the security company who ****ed up, but why was a company contracted with no safeguards to stop this shit?

Many? It only takes 1. But more realistically a few. But sure, ask your friend. She could make a submission to the inquiry too.

And sure there are dickheads from many religions. But only 1 is involved in huge numbers here. And has a govt covering it up as much as they can.

So you’re suggesting it was just one Muslim who spread it?

Well id trust her word on what staff she worked with over you deciding the security guard who started it all was Muslim

doesn’t sound like the religion has any bearing on it. I mean if you’re suggesting one person did the wrong thing, why even mention their religion?

yes yes. We get it. You read a boomer social media Post and took it as fact

forgotten those who think trump is a sexy alpha already?

But the guys who ended up doing the job may well be glorified labour hire given the sub-contract arrangements.

No one had this workforce sitting around and fully trained ready to go presumably, yet they came from somewhere.

If it was 'find a contract' it may not have fitted exactly, e.g talk of being paid cash. There is enough here for a mini series ;)

Almost done with week 1 of lockdown.

not much positive news to come yet.... but again things haven't got much worse (community transmissions are still very high)

It's not uncommon for Muslims to prioritize their religion above secular laws and Ramadan/Eid celebrations would've been one of those occasions hence the 'family clusters' which is code for groups of Muslims (family, friends, etc..) getting together and spreading the virus all over the North and West.
and other religions were not allowed. funerals, weeding were not either

Well that's just wrong. Funerals were/are limited to 10 and I presume you mean weddings which were/are limited to 5.

If you did mean weeding, that was never banned.

However, the mouth-breathers who think that a potential fine was going to be any sort of deterrent are the same people who believe that capital punishment is also a deterrent. People will either choose to do the right thing or they won't. The threat of a $1600 fine or whatever it was is an irrelevance.

Yep, that's why vast majority didn't protest. Wasn't about freedom of expression, it was about not associating themselves with a very unsavoury extremist agenda espoused by the leaders of BLM.

I agree in part and whilst I support the BLM ideal a physical protest was irresponsible at this time. The people who participated are idiots. Nothing more needs to be said about them.

That said, Andrews (and the other state leaders) could have threatened to fine every single one of them and most of them still would have shown up.

my issue is after seeing what happened in the USA, and the way VicPol tend to deal with shutting down a protest, I think its safe to say we wouldn't have had cops handing out tickets and protestors going home.

It would have been a full on riot, and then there would have been consequent protests afterwards to protest the policing

that said, the protest organizers had a duty of care and should have done this smarter. a mob sized crowd on the street isnt the only way to protest. have a march, and enforce social distancing and mask wearing. ditch the speeches (at a physical podium/stair/stage) and have them done via zoom during the march.

I actually feel for the cops because they were the ones in a ****ed position, letting it go or shutting it down, they were ****ed either way

"Threatened to fine" would be the operative phrase that may have thinned out the numbers and at least enforced Andrews' opinion that the march was wrong.

Nobody is saying that you needed to enforce the fines, but at least pretend like you'd have issued them (before telling the police not to at the last minute). Easy!

NSW tried to stop the rallies legally. They had community transmission at the time. They stood for something and there were no riots. Superior leadership to Dan's decidedly limp approach.

we are victorians, we ride public transport for free when they are "threatening to fine" us. threats would have been ignored. arrests and people being taken away in the back of a divvy van was the only way to stop these protests

You were never going to stop them, but you shouldn't admit it beforehand. This is the issue!

The HUN are reporting record numbers expected today...

you think empty threats would have stopped them? they gave actual threats for past protests and people still rocked up. these are angry pissed off people who are prepared to risk infection to protest, you think they are worried about a fine?!?!?

Threatened to fine?

Hilarious.

If the threat to fine was a major deterrent then why do we rake in hundreds of millions of dollars in speeding fines every year? You overestimate punishment as a legitimate behaviour modifier.
