Vic How would you rate Daniel Andrews' performance as Victorian Premier? - Part 3

But you happily take the benefits the unions fight for? Funny that

Lol, in our case we’d be better off without them, do more harm than good

In the MFB if you wanted to add a new $5 piece of equipment to the truck it’d take 5 years of consultations and 10 UFU committees before it could be approved. We just go out and buy it and throw it on the truck!

Their biggest win for safety was new PPE, yet they’d decided before the consultation began exactly who was providing the new gear and what was being provided, yet still it went through a 5 year+ consultation process and by the end the chosen gear was out of date and superseded but that’s the one the union wanted so that’s the one we got!

But am I happy my union fees go to Daniel Andrews re-election campaign? No, or to pay someone to write a letter on my behalf telling Dan we still love him no matter how many Victorians he kills?

If we had a union that was about safety and not politics it’d be something worth being proud to be in, but this ain’t!

Just another Bludger, takes everything Unions get and then complains about Unions

Yeah it’s fantastic, I hope neither you or any of your family live in regional Victoria because the union has removed the ability for career firefighters to respond to grass and bushfires in summer. So the new and improved fire service Victoria deserves is apparently one that responds to less incidents and removes the crucial first truck from arriving at a fire quickly.

Victorians could die this summer and that’s what this union actually wants.

We just need to get to the NSW benchmark. The rest of the country will either get with the party, or not.

the issue there is as someone here pointed out earlier today

nsw is trying to get into qld, and if letting us in makes that harder, they wont do shit no matter what our numbers are

it will be interesting to see if the fed libs attack on qld continues now the lnp in qld has committed to maintaining the same border strategy as the alp

Let's see what the situation is after the election.

I don't think 28 days of 0 is gettable for NSW. So something will have to give

Why? Why would Qld risk their current situation (which is pretty much back to normal) for what NSW have?

Big condensed populations will never achieve that, we have seen that all around the world.

Does this mean you're now endorsing Vic isolate from the rest of the country indefinitely (thus allowing our restrictions be eased)?

It will have some pretty significant economic and social consequences. I'm also not sure if the current border arrangements would be allowed (given country infections will rise again)

I'm obviously against it, but I am curious to understand what you see is the benefit of fortress Victoria (other than ending lockdown)

I don't expect them to, but surely they have the same want to getting back to being a full member of the Commonwealth as Victoria does?

Isn't wa the only state restricting Queenslanders?

No i'm not, merely pointing out the crazy requirements made against both Vic and NSW, the other states have to be more realistic, no place with same popular density has been able to achieve what they are wanting. This virus is no going anywhere in a hurry and a vaccine or cure may never been found. This last week has proven we will never get there, people are going to keep breaking the rules and going out or to work whilst sick, and i don't know how we will ever stop that from happening.

Queenslanders can't travel freely to and from two-thirds of the national economy. They've cut themselves out of the Commonwealth.

You sure? I thought they had access to everywhere except wa, but had to return via another area for 14 days if they went to Vic to NSW

NSW will get under this bar. They are back to 2 cases again today

And even if Vic will never get it's numbers down as you believe, why should the other states agree to be damned by our issue which they don't have?

Until they have a mass outbreak, we have no right to demand access

Look i hope like hell we do, but i don't have much faith any more that we will, we have so many ****ers ignoring the rules setting us back, i don't see that changing any time soon, especially with length of lockdown we have been in, people are getting to the point where they have had enough I would like to go back to WA at some point, although that won't be until April next year. And whilst other states may change the rules at some point, i have zero interest in giving any money to QLD, some of the crap they have done through this with seriously ill people and their families during this time is shithouse, my plan is to holiday as much as i can here in Victoria.

That's right. If they can't travel to WA, and can't travel freely back from NSW and VIC, then they are in a similar boat as Victorians.

One big difference. They don't want to travel down here, noone does. And NSW is on the verge of full access.

I should qualify my comment about us being out of the Commonwealth. People want Queensland to be a full member of this nation, noone wants Victorians anywhere near them

People have been ringing cops in other states to report people with Vic licence plates just for being there. Noone is doing that to Queenslanders

But that has no basis in science. Predicated on us getting to NSW-levels, that's just insane.

Don't disagree with any of this. As I've said before, I've never felt less Australian than I have now. I also have no interest in spending my hard earnt in states who are spitting on us now

That said, I don't begrudge anyone who wants out, and those who want to keep us out. Have no issue at all with people not wanting to inherit our shit

The only reason i will go back to Perth is to see family, if it wasn't for that i would not go anywhere near them, and as i have somewhere to stay, i won't need to give there government any tourism dollars.

Actually there is science behind it.

We know we have the virus spreading unknown in our community. Even today they acknowledge it's probably 30% undetected.

Other states don't have that same issue (edit - to the same extent)
