Vic How would you rate Daniel Andrews' performance as Victorian Premier? - Part 4

'Tis the nature of political discussion on social media. I'm old enough to remember the time when it was fashionable to hang sh*t on politicans of all breeds purely because they're politicians.

When you go to the ScoMo thread, you don't see anyone getting upset about mistreatment of ScoMo by the media or antagonists posting on social media. Same goes for the Trump thread. It's rather unique in Australian politics to see a brigade of people who defend a politician in the way they do with Dan, and I can't say I'm a fan of it.

He's a horribly incompetent leader and arrogant man. Why anyone want to defend him is beyond me.

It's completely understandable that people want to vent about the Andrews' government handling of this pandemic. The cost has been borne by Victorians, not Dan.
I don’t think you read the trump thread too well. A lot of blame of media being fake news..

Yeh it's not like pandemics are rare events hey, it's not like we have other viruses before this that were of concern, if anything can be learned from this, the fact we don't have the proper facilities to deal with something like this should be a wake up call. And the mindset of all in politics have to change and make it not about them and how they can fix it and work towards a common ground to do what they are there for, govern for the people, and make sure they are doing what is right for us not themselves, sadly i don't think that will ever happen from any political party soon.

we used to have them, but volume meant they were being managed via other means for a while now

Brett doesn't know whether the lockdown will end and can't say.. Dan is waiting on the very best medical advice..

The only decision maker is the creeping assumption! That the Victorian government for you. Hopefully the assumption is that it will end.

Given what has occurred this last year and a bit it has to be re visited, and yes it may be a white elephant in the long run, but surely we have to look at something, we have to learn from the last year, it's never going to be an easy solution, but we have to find something. At a guess i would think it would need to be something that is mobile and can be moved around, you could take them to bush fire ravished areas perhaps to help people with living arrangements until they get on their fee, because sadly bush fires are a common occurrence in this country.

As I mentioned already, I have zero issue with a permanent facility.

We have been cocky about thinking infection only comes from boat people.

I added to my post, why not look into something that could be moved to an area of need ie: a bushfire ravished area for temporary accom for those who have lost their house in a fire to help them get on their feet, just thinking outside the box.

We were at 19 active cases last Friday.

Literally no excuse to go back to last Friday's settings.

And drop the outdoor masks immediately FFS!!!

Are we right to go ??

Dan Andrews: I'm not taking any chances, our HQ is the gold standard of making mistakes. The 25 active cases could balloon to 25000 cases at John Travolta grease lightning speed!!!

We need to short circuit the circuit breaker, so we can go on and live COVID-Normal. Therefore it is my duty to inform you that we will now lockdown for the next 6 months unnecessarily.

What an absolute ******* this premier is. Completely over exaggerated the virulence of the strain to justify his shutting the whole state with the only intention of saving his own arse.
We are bleeding terribly out here in the country thanks to this dickhead.
I feel for small businesses that missed out on Valentines day trading, people who are struggling to cope psychologically, students, and any journalists who have to deal with Dan.

Dan just isn't up to the task unfortunately. Surely it's time for new leadership.

No one with in his own cabinet seems to want to step up, they have all kept very quiet through this, either by choice it seems ( self preservation ) or muzzled by Dan.

This was a massive over reaction to a so called super virus, which now has clearly shown to be not as bad as they say, three states where it has got out, and three states where nothing has come of it, because if it is as bad as they say, we have what 1000+ close contacts isolating and it has hardly gone through them, and as pointed out elsewhere in this thread it has increased by 6 since Friday this cluster, so business screwed over and people looked up for 6 cases.

Just announced on ABC News24 that it will be announced later this morning that the lockdown will end as scheduled tonight. Bit hard to keep the cat in the bag when the Australian Open have been selling tickets to tomorrow's tennis all morning.

I'm not 100% sure I follow the logic. You think Dan decided to implement this lockdown to "save his own arse"?

He and the people advising him are going to be the ones responsible if an outbreak got out of hand because they didn't go hard enough. In hindsight they went too hard, but I think most people agree we have to err on the side of caution. A handful of 5 day lockdowns is a lot better than another 3-month lockdown.

the 5-day lockdown was so we could catch up on contact tracing, something we expect to be adequate now and dan should be held responsible for.

victorians didn't deserve this, this one is entirely on the government.

however i am stoked that we are getting away with just 5 days.
