He’s in the Alfred. They have the least issues with staffing/ facilities in the public system.

The general med wards at the Alfred are absolutely diabolical. I can't express just how big a difference there is in standard of "care" once discharged from the ICU to a ward.

I had very recent experience of this with a family member, and I could not transfer them out of the hospital fast enough.

Multiple rib # usually gets Icu involved to manage pain and deep breathing to prevent pneumonia. We also do not have details re spine # (if he has to stay lying in spinal precautions it increases the risk of atelectasis and chest infections)
But sure, no need for icu.

That could very well be the case, i don't know. Nursing was a 1:4 ratio, but the 4 patients could all be in different 4 bed rooms spread across the ward. And good luck getting assistance while your allocated nurse was on their break.
