By the time they're finished, so too will the virus, but deflecting to the incompetence of the federal government, whilst popular in here, shouldn't deflect from the gross incompetence of our state leaders, who are currently asleep at the wheel.

Victoria are now officially at 0 cases of COVID-19, yet we're taking in nobody, spending a mill per week looking after empty hotels whilst expending our costs / capacity and being forced to wear masks in some quite ridiculous settings.

Was speaking to someone who used to be an air hostess with Tiger and she was saying alot of her tiger colleagues are now working at the hotel quarantine facilities and earn $10,000 a month to do their job. Currently they are earning $10,000 a month to sit at home as there are no international arrivals.

news.com.au (so its murdoch so you can believe it) is reporting that the program is about to reboot shortly. Two new hotels have been added to it, and their sources are saying resumption should be announced shortly

All we want is a society where everyone is treated with respect. Is it so hard to do this? Someone who is non-binary - just address them by name. No need for 'zim' or 'zer'. Practice by calling everyone you meet by name only. It's not that hard, even I've got the hang of it now after a lot of practice.

People in times past probably resisted the Ms pronoun, which developed later than Mr and Mrs. Mrs was a label for a married woman while all men, married or not, had Mr as a pronoun. A sense of fairness and equality saw Ms rise as a pronoun. Dunno if you want to read it but if you do check this out;

People had to adapt to that new reality whether they liked it or not. Women eventually gained the right to hide their marital status in the same manner as the 'Mr' pronoun.

It's a matter of adaption, pure and simple. Practice it with everyone you know. Call them by name and refer to them by name in conversation. Pretty soon you will be talking in genderless terms, You will have adapted.

It’s interesting how the gap between announcements and easing of restrictions keeps getting longer and longer.

No sane reason to wait 3 days

The Morrison and Trump threads are probably as one-sided as they are because they're both total cretins.

Andrews has shown that he has his faults, but he's also doing a lot of good in Victoria too, especially in areas like infrastructure.

I wish that Dan didn't go all LNP big swinging dick on how good hotel quarantine is in Victoria only for it to blow up in his face like two days later, just like the "who'd even want to visit SA?" thing he did last year. I think the five day lockdown was overkill. I think we should have at least continued to take on quarantine arrivals in lower numbers over the last month rather than none at all. But the level crossing removals and other infrastructure works have been a home run.

The Carlton/Collingwood game at the MCG on Thursday night is almost certainly going to be the highest attended sporting event in the world in the last 12 months. This didn't just happen by accident.

I agree there should be more, but placement needs to be considered. The problem is that there's so many NIMBYs who are against injecting rooms in principle and will never agree to one that no rational public discussion over location alone ever takes place.

It's always taken over by those who would never accept to them being anywhere.

Quite right, but they still need to be reasonable. Too often the rightful NIMBYs are happy to hitch their wagon, or be taken over, by those opposed to the whole idea and specific objections about location get mixed up with ideological objections. It happened for a decade and in the end it cost the genuine NIMBYs, but they contributed to the poor outcome.
