Vic How would you rate Daniel Andrews' performance as Victorian Premier? - Part 4

A good heuristic is to blame the LNP for everything.

HQ fails in Victoria --> It's a federal responsibility.
Contract tracing isn't up to standard --> Jeff Kennett's fault for gutting our health system.

Dan Andrews is infallible. Everything he does is gold standard. Hell, he only fell down the stairs because that campaigner Scummo spat on them.

Both sides are very good at that game mate.

Take the federal government's "but Laybah" response to claims that their political party is a wee but rapey.

Politics in the 21st century, where policy and ethics don't matter as long as you can point the finger at the other mob.

Such as I have done with this post. ;)

You clearly have no clue how many jobs are already outsourced to cheaper labour overseas.

Covid's work from home rules will have minimal to zero effect on increasing that. And you'd be pretty ignorant to suggest otherwise.

No, no idea at all. Please enlighten me since you claim to be the font of all knowledge.

your employer mates have known that for a long time. they've been exporting jobs for ages.nothing new.

But its working so well, can't get vaccines cos Europe is blocking them, can't have surgery cos we are short on supplies, can't get protective clothing.

But we are the clever country, if you want shit dug up and shipped.

It's a global workforce now you plank.

Electricity, the phone and the internet were all invented quite some time ago. If a company wanted to offshore their labour costs they would have already done so. Covid will have next to no impact upon that at all.

And those that do so in future will do so independently of whether there is a global pandemic.

You're a hysterical imbecile. And your posts on here are evidence of that.

To me it appears you’re actually both arguing the same thing, that wfh won’t be affecting jobs locally...

So your protestations are a little bit shallow then.
Didn't find out until the next day that they hadn't been tested for months.

It isn't a great look for both the government and the AFL but in the end it is something minor. In the very unlikely event that someone was positive though it would have been a major incident

It was interesting watching the NRL on the weekend and a player went up into the stands and was interacting with the crowd.

Now the reason he did it was a fantastic gesture, but in the Covid environment it's funny cos if his club was in Brisbane they'd be quietly moved and free to play as if they were special and in a bubble which they aren't.

Do they still travel in their own chartered flights (the players, that is)?

Are they following any protocols?

It's a national game and it seems like other teams are flying all over the place (Geelong AFLW played in Qld on the weekend too, I doubt they flew charter).
Doesn't seem to me to be a Victoria-specific problem.

If the vaccines don't start being seriously rolled out by the start of flu season (May-ish) then the sh!t is really going to hit the fan and I don't think any of the political leaders will avoid scrutiny, but the gloves will be off in the blame game this time, since Frydenberg never really stopped.

I went for a stroll through the Melbourne CBD today and it was a real eye opener. It is far worse than you think. Bourke St Mall was empty, I have never seen it so barren. We cut through lane ways and malls and in some places every second shop was gone. DeGraves a mecca for food that is hard to even move through at lunch time was basically empty. We stopped to get food and the lady serving us said today was busy compared to other days and that they used to have 4 staff but are down to one.

Worth noting that job keeper has now ended so it probably gets worse. Very sobering.

CBD is in for massive changes with the hybrid WFH arrangements that are becoming more common and the exodus of international students

Agree 100%. The flow on effect to land lords and property trusts is still to play out as the rent returns fall so must the valuations, be a few debt covenant issues to play out in the coming year or so. I was utterly staggered at how bad it was, small pockets near office towers are OK but shopping type prescincts in the CBD are in all sorts.

I already got my eviction notice from my property manager today. I'm one of thousands who will be getting them over the next 2 weeks.

This is an impending crisis.

are the covid rules actually ending now (every other time the govt extended the protection deadline)?

It's the home (apartment) I've lived in for the whole 6ish years I've lived in Melbourne.

Pity what this incompetent Govt. wants/plans to do re:Train Stabling Yard in Heatherton.

You're another one of the NIMBYs down there who like the project as long as it doesn't impact them?

Oh please. That space was meant to reserved for a sporting facilities which included several ovals. The Govt. even promised it in the 2018 election

But of course the Govt stabbed them in the back with this proposed eyesore

1617193168198.png

That was the reason for all the closures for all the landfills around there. To build a Series of Parks for the physical, mental ,emotional well being. Not a ****ing train yard that serves no benefit. I was using these parks when they closed the gyms down last year.

Here is an alternative site which they could have used.

1617193534465.png

The alternative site is:

  • Similar size to the Delta site
  • Much further from residential homes
  • Located in an area where noise would already be buffered for residential areas by sound barriers on the Mordialloc freeway
  • Not included in the Chain of Parks
  • Less impacted by previous landfill issues
  • Still close to the proposed rail alignment
  • Near proposed sites for development of the Hawthorn Football Club and Water Park that would further buffer noise for residents, as well as obscure the view of the train stabling from residential housing in the distance. Those developments would also not be as sensitive to noise as residential homes.
  • Already designed with a walking track and bike path on the east side of the Mordialloc Freeway so no changes will be needed there, and with new mature large trees planted on the western side to provide buffering to the train stabling yard.

Its not a case of NIMBY. Its a case of no thought/thoughtlessness to the TSY.

Why is it not OK for residents to have a state of the art sporting precinct but its OK for them to be bombarded by cacophony of noises from trains and construction vehicles on a consistent basis? Why must dandemic and his moronic govt. continue to show utter contempt for the health and well-being of his residents?
