The likelihood of vaccinated people getting the virus, is still very low, and they don't generally transmit while not infected. It is still some risk, but isn't that worth living with? It would also incentivise the vaccine hesitant.

It may be hard to enforce for some rules but easier for others. Air travel for instance, or gyms, could easily be opened for the vaccinated. Business owners would police it or risk huge fines.

Do we really know? If you do, kindly tell the people planning the next 90 days, they would love your certainty for the roster this weekend.
These folk are very tired & run down ..... .

And when we have more of the population vaccinated, I'd agree with you. Right now, we aren't there

How about we withdraw all the massive resources into road safety and teaching people how to drive because it 'only kills 1000 people a year'.

What the fu** do you and Ben think the outcome of that will be????????
Is that what you got out of the post is it?

It's a person's choice to drive, and to adhere to safety guidelines, it's not forced upon anyone to do any of them, which is exactly the opposite of what's happening in this country upon all facets of life.

Btw sticking people in there homes for 22 hours a day isn't a viable strategy at all, but hey, if you believe it is then good for you.

lack of scale, being at the arse end of the world, and the globalization of supply chain killed low cost manufacturing in Australia

Nah mate, it's all about Johnny Foreigner.

Those who complain about globalisation in this context are really saying that without globalisation we wouldn't have Covid in this country. Aside from the deplorable racist overtone, these same people also enjoy overseas holidays, flying on planes built by Boeing. There is no chance Covid wouldn't have made it here so we'd still need to be vaccinated of course. The racists are happy to take their Pfizer jab, manufactured overseas or even the AZ one where we don't own the IP and would have no right access it under this mythical anti-globalisation (racist) agenda they drive.

The anti-globalists all love their smartphones, Volvo's, Sony TV's, Mexican Levi's, blood diamonds, Thai food and pizza but will be the first to complain about the price of Australian made goods.

Scumbags and hypocrites, the lot of them.

'Is cheap, is good' in a throwaway lifestyle.

It is far more deadly and transmissible than both of those.
Yet, in Victoria, no one's died*. (Yes, I know there were two women, but do we know the full story?)

Edit: * in this outbreak I meant to say

No, it's about you and your dumbarse mate Ben Fordham being too thick to understand that because these measures have been deployed the number of fatalies is 1000 - if they had not it may have been twenty times that, not taking into account the other people who would have died waiting for care in a collapsed health system.

We are victims of our own success in stymieing this virus because according to knuckleheads like you and Ben Fordham it doesn't exist. Simpletons.

You are taking a leap accusing the OP of 'it doesnt exist'.

Didn't catch the presser, but given we're effectively in Stage 4 lockdown until we're at 70% double dose, most sources I can see have us into November for 70%.

Did any journo ask about supply and if the government are planning to drop the Pfizer wait back to 3 weeks?

The current 60 day projection is pretty hard to digest and I'm not even economically affected by the lockdown.

I don't have any certainty, or claiming any. Even the people running it don't have certainty, but they can still take measured risks.

This was all clear as day when they announced zero was out of reach. My first shot is in two days (so second will be late October/early November) and we are still over a week away from 70% single dose.

Even allowing for the the UK swap payback, we are still due an increasing number of Pfizers and Moderna arrives next week, so hopefully we can flatten the wait period and get us going again in October.

The vaccination rate of the people this applies to would be 100%. With a very small chance of infection, locking down the vaccinated doesn't make much sense to me, when weighed against the benefits.

We're all hypocrites when it comes to individual purchases.

Given the NSW health officials said to Gladys she should get to 85% double vaxed before taking these steps I’d expect Dan will get similar advice but follow it. I can’t see much opening up here before December.

Agree it seemed to be a late October timeframe for 70% dd as soon as it was clear it got away. You would have thought the extra vax would have brought that in but it hasnt yet. I figured by up to 2 weeks but vax doesn't seem to have ramped up yet.
