If they just let WA residents back in , they wouldn't have to try and sneak in.

When was the last time we heard of anyone sneaking in or trying to sneak in to WA?

It's the ones that are invited in and then do the wrong thing who are the problem.

There are people now stuck in NSW and Vic who are WA residents with homes, families and jobs that can't get exemptions to get back in to WA.

We are advising them that as long as they can prove they are WA residents to just jump on a plane and sort it out with WA Pol when they land.

Some are doing this with no problems while the others are just too sh*t scared to do it in case they cop a massive fine or get thrown in jail. They'll pretty much be homeless and penniless but still won't do it.

Life in WA looks more attractive by the day in lockdown. We have friends who moved to Melbourne going up the corporate ladder, & they have had it, particularly the home schooling. Others we know in the same position went to Qld in January.

Anyone watching the iCook hearing? This is farcical 🤣 why are they on such strict time limits? It stinks.

Havent watched* but was planning to take in Sutton & Mikakos tomorrow.

* watched the Coate production of 'Cant Recall' & carry the scars.

Just a general question but given where we are now in Vic- has the last 12 months of on and off lockdown been pointless?

Of course. What’s the point of going in and out? The aim was to get the country to Covid zero originally.. we got there and yet it still managed to get in from overseas (HQ) and back into our states. Everyone should feel failed and let down. We did our bit.

Yeah, as a family we'd look at Qld. If we last until both kids have finished school, 3 years, then maybe Busselton so just the wife and I.

In Victoria, the old HSC is now the VCE and is done over 2 years my eldest will start the last / year 12 next year so she doesn't want to go and we don't want to move her.

BHP have put out an internal survey to gauge interest at fifo'ing to site from regional airports ie Gero, Bunbury , Busso and whether it would entice people to relocate from interstate. It certainly piqued my interest.

knife sorry to bust your chops but anything new on nextstrain to give this further context?

Nothing from Victoria, but I'm awaiting until the next update (should be Saturday), just in case Victoria went to monthly uploads of data. A few other countries should also see some data updated which will provide a better picture Worldwide.

Last samples from Australia are from NSW and WA ~9-10 days ago. NZ from about a week ago.

It was pointless the moment the Federal Govenment failed to build quarantine facilities.

We reached covid zero and yet nothing was done to make sure people enterting the nation did not spread covid.

He tells the newsroom what to write ? See Peter Hartcher, the political editor of The Age & SMH
Yep, ok. That's how it works. Shouldn't you all be on the conspiracy theories boards with that crap? If you don't like it, don't read it. Not hard. On top of that, if somebody does like it, don't try and change their opinions because you don't. Noticed how I used "their".
Another alternative is to do what I do and flip the paper over and read the sport, no more sport, paper finished.

Doesn't the state operate facilities while the feds regulate facilities?

No the states run the state owned facilities, the federally regulated facilities are the privately owned ones. Where most of the deaths occurred last year.

No question the quarantine issue has dogged the daily lives of Australians, not all, not evenly. Dan said 'no more' & they stopped coming to Vic, the other States picked up the slack.

The excuses for not using Christmas Island facility after those evacuated from Wuhan are an example of failure to build/use dedicated quarantine facilities & that will be a factor when Australia votes next year. Whether Albo can keep the Premiers on message is his challenge.

Not quite. It saved lives, literally.

If you don't like the replies why post the crap about 'but, but, Murdoch'?

That is how it works!

I don't bother with either - win win.
