Huge meeting of all clubs big bosses this week - the game changer has arrived.

The outcomes of this meeting could decide the real direction of AFL football for 20+ years.

Question is will the AFL & clubs go head to head with the AFLPA or can a win, win deal be negotiated for all ... fun times ahead.

Michaelangelo seems to sum it all up pretty well.

Key issues on the agenda are:

AN UPDATE on the collective bargaining agreement between the AFL and AFL Players’ Association. This will determine the salary cap the club work with for the next six years — and how much money is left the collect from the record $2.508 billion television deal.

THE women’s national league. Eight of the 18 AFL clubs will field teams — and the other 10 will demand the AFL police spending on these programs. There is concern clubs will hire staff for the women’s eight-week program, but then reassign this crew to work with the men’s team — and beat the spending cap on AFL football programs.

EQUALISATION taxes — and “luxury” taxes on big-spending football programs. This is a major concern at the Adelaide Football Club.

CHINA. The AFL wants to sell international television rights — and Port Adelaide wants to play a match for premiership points in Shanghai in March.

QUEENSLAND. The AFL Commission met in Brisbane last week — and saw first-hand the challenges faced by the Lions and the opportunities for the Suns to tap into a legacy from the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

STADIUM DEALS. Work continues on the new 60,000-seat stadium in Perth that will open for the 2018 AFL season, but there is no management agreement for the WA-based AFL clubs, West Coast and Fremantle.

imo unions should rely on the good graces of the employer to pay their workers the maximum wages possible without anyone needing to cause an undue scene

Thank God for employers! We would never have received annual leave, penalty rates, maternity leave, superannuation, equal pay for women, OH&S, workers' compensation, sick leave, long service leave, redundancy provisions, allowances, meal and rest breaks, unfair dismissal protections, leave loading and maximum hours' provisions.

Australia's fantastic working conditions are all thanks to the generous nature of employers here. High five for bosses!

that's why 90% of us don give money to unions. a few are forced to.

The trouble with tying wages to revenue is not all revenue is profit. Things like Auskick fees are revenue but may just be enough to cover costs.

Maybe tie it to certain revenue such tv, finals money and afl membership.
