It did cost Geelong the game, unfortunately for them though it was the correct decision that cost them the game.
Watching the game, the tackle looked as if it could have been let go and play on called by the umpire and all us cat fans would be happy. Given the benefit of a replay, the free kick was there and the umpire made the correct call "by the book". We will just have to wait till next week and try to play 4 quaters of good Geelong football and not put ourselves, or the umpire, in that situation again.
The game was lost in the first half. 6 goals down just minutes into the third quater was always going to be a monstrous task in those conditions.
That decision did cost Geelong the game last night. Peopkle will bitch and moan and be holier than thou about how they should have kicked goals etc.. but the point is, any one of those goals Geel did kick that they missed significantly changes the outcome of the game.
Ever seen sliding doors? Geel kicks a point.. the ball gets kicked in and the game eventuates that particular way, OR, if Geelong kick the goal the ball goes back to the centre and a completely different course of action unfolds. You see the difference? Now the game played out that particular way for the reason that it was meant to, so decisions that are made in the course of the game being played that way CONSIDERABLY affect the outcome.
Some basic supporters will not be able to see it this way, but in fact, it is the way it is, and the decision that was made was critical in the way that game unfolded last night.

Gee ..spot the ASW ..a new thread just to try and impress his importance on us all .
Not only an ASW but you are totally wrong, i guess the soft frees the Cats got in the second half had no bearing on the result ?
supid thread .
Not sure why everyones angry over that free to Gwilt. Didn't Selwood,Johnson and Stokes all get dodgy frees for ducking and throwing their heads back like they'd been shot. Or was I mistaken.

i agree with you
That decision did cost Geelong the game
A correct decision, that Cameron Mooney fell into Gwilts back was paid and prevented Geelong from kicking the winning goal, so the decision, a correct decision, cost them the game
Gwilt dived. Went straight on his guts instead of falling on his knees first. Mooney tried to get out of the way. Unfortunetly the umpire fell for the Gwilt acting. Players do it all the time. So no, it wasn't really the correct decision it was just the umpire getting sucked in.
It doesn't matter now anyway it's done and dusted. Looking to next week
