You could also ascribe that name to a lot of players at Richmond because of our game plan.

Brisbane has a similar game plan so it is not surprising he kicks sideways like a lot in our team.

Rockliff was a crab under Voss too.

Teams let Rockliff get 30 disposals each week and don't bother tagging him because he doesn't hurt you. You want to release Martin forward, but Rockliff doesn't move the ball forwards anyway so it's a redundant move. People think B.Ellis is ineffective, Rockliff is worse than that. He's a spud.

I like Prestia, very good midfielder.

If he was an 18 year old kid in this draft I dont think he'd go for pick 6 though.

Pick 9 is the answer.

2 years ago he was worth pick 6.

Now he is not quite.

But as much as I don't want to admit - the only way we can get GC value is pick 6 and a pick in return.

Id be very happy if it comes out that RFC said, "we are not trading pick 6 for Prestia. Stop trying to get it because its not happening. If you want 6, we want Prestia and 8 in return. either that or you take pick 27 for prestia"

Play hardball, and if we dont get Prestia, we dont get prestia.

Would he last to get to our pick in the PSD?

Strong rumour (Ok:p - Gold104 sports report) that Prestia--> Richmond looks in doubt.
The GC know, that if they sit fat they will get pick 6 out of us, the RFC trotted out tha Prestia is coming and they will give up the war chest if need be to get him over the line, we folded last year with the yarran trade we will do so again, it's just like our game plan picked apart by our opponents

The administration has promoted that we have got Prestia. Expect to give up 6

Similar coaching pedigree?

Balme runs the show now though, surely he'd have more of a backbone.

I want Prestia - but not at the cost of pick 6. IMO, pick 6 should be off the table unless we are getting something too good to turn down.

If we were aggressive and trading away picks for ready made players for a tilt, then I'd be more open to it - but if we're going the mini/full rebuild route, then we need to keep our best picks and not pay overs.

We're debating the wrong question.

It's not about whether Prestia will provide more value than pick 6.

It's all about which of those two options increase our chance of winning a premiership.

Therefore, the correct answer depends on our overall list management strategy over the coming years. (Our development ability is also a factor, but we have to back ourselves in there otherwise we might as well give up now).

Both choices are correct depending on our other decisions.

The only way we can lose is if we choose a medium-term option while trading away our guns, or even worse would be if we choose the long-term option while keeping our guns.

I say if Deledio goes, perhaps we should also let Riewoldt go and keep Pick 6. Prestia would still be good value alongside Rance/Martin/Cotchin though, so either decision works.

If Deledio stays however, we need to win a premiership within the next 3 years and that could signal that Prestia is more valuable than Pick 6 right now.

It's all about our overall list strategy, which atm appears inconsistent.

On the money here...also Yarran must play for us to be anywhere near finals contenders...

Still think pick 6 is easy overs for Prestia!

If Deledio stays, it's overs to keep Pick 6 because we're cashing in on Deledio's value now so we should cash in on Pick 6's value now too. Spreading out the load probably leads us to remain mediocre.

He was at Collingwood last year, they gave two high first round picks away for Treloar....

Collingwood gained Treloar + 28 instead of Pick 7 + future first. If they did well this year (with FA pushing picks back) it could've been a downgrade from Pick 18 to 28 plus Pick 7, which would've been a good deal.

Balme seems to value being able to split a top 10 pick into a proven player + a young 2nd rounder. With good recruiting, you get the best of both worlds - instant improvement and kids.

Collingwood reduced risk, adding guaranteed value to their current squad, at the cost of potential longevity from their currency and risk of a poor 2016.

Richmond are doing the same, minus gambling on our 2017, while considering losing Deledio, which offsets any short-term boost the the current squad.

The Deledio factor and our poor end to 2016 are arguments against Prestia.

Hopefully Balme can judge whether our poor 2016 was more of a Collingwood 2015 or a Geelong 2005.

And Treloar is so far ahead of Prestia the comparison is basically irrelevant. Plus Collingwood overrated where they were at last year, surely we're not actually so naïve behind closed doors.
