There are going to be some interesting selection calls.

If Reid is fit enough to play, do you play a backup ruck as sub? If so, Amartey is probably the best option. If Reid is fine, do you keep Campbell as sub?

If Reid is out, do you play McLean or Amartey? I’d lean towards Amartey for structure, though it seems like McLean was favoured by coaches as an emmergency recently. If we go with McLean, I’d almost think it would be better to also bring Amartey in for McDonald for structural purposes - but I can’t see that happening. I hope Amartey.

Horse also made some comments about Clarke after the game tht we’re unusual. The journalist thought Clarke had a good game but Horse immediately said that Daicos got free in the second half. Horse also said that he wasn’t sure what would happen with Geelong this week. It was hard to tell if his thinking was scattered and he was no longer thinking about Clarke when he said it.

I hope Clarke stays in - I think he deserves to and we saw what happened when we took him out for the Essendon game. I am also not sure who he would go out for? Wicks or Ronke? Maybe we would go tall with both Amartey and Reid starting? I hope not.

Fair but their mantra has been obvious that you back a winning side

No changes ad nauseum

The only real change to the dynamic is McDonald over Amartey

So now the only change of any possibility IMO is Reid by way of injury and that is a real unknown at this point.

How good was Clarke's disposal? Was heart in mouth stuff every time but seemed like he always did the right thing even under extreme pressure

He used to give it straight up to the opposition. Incredibly (and credit to him) that doesn’t happen. And he often bobs up for a goal. IMO he is a lock for the GF

He is a big part of the dynamic change as to the Swans success over the last part of the year

Why would Clarke not stay in? I see no reason at all to drop him, he’s a major success story over the last couple of months.

he said clarke has been good, leads the side at stoppages and instructs and players love him

Congrats. Great win today. If you get the same set of umpires as today, then it will be close for a while next week. But alas, Geelong are going to perform an absolute destroyation on you

Cheers!

Enjoy the off season!

Thought we got our matchups correct first half. Won us the game.

what won us the game was being the better team across the whole game ... i think they were lucky to have got that close
we smashed them for two and a half quarters ... the first half of that set up with a crucial contribution from reid, the second half of it trying (and mostly succeeding) to maintain the edge without reid until i think we just got tired and frustrated, particularly frustrated, by not getting that important "next goal" ... and i reckon that started with heeney missing on the three-quarter siren
we were the better team, and for a lot of them we were quite significantly the better team

This win reminded me of the StKilda one, which is a good thing.

We dominated St Kilda, had a player go down (Papley) and then didn’t put St Kilda away. St Kilda kept coming at us and we just held on. We learnt from it and came out focused against Melbourne the next week and played incredibly well.

We dominated Collingwood tonight, had a player go down (Reid) and then didn’t put Collingwood away. Collingwood kept coming at us and we just held on. We will be able to learn from this and come out focused against Geelong next week and hopefully play incredibly well.

Also, I think having just the one game in almost 4 weeks hurt us. We didn’t have the run in our legs. Today will do us good. Geelong had a much lighter game, so they may not have benefitted as much (although they looked very impressive).

Love a back handed compliment from a loser.

As Captain Obvious would say gotta be in it to win it.

And you’re not in it so suck on those feathers.

McDonald will have his work cut out , think he will struggle against the cats Talls

he just has to play his role and take his moments. eg like morton in 2012

Yeah, I found the comments odd and I hope it was just Longmire thinking into next week and forgetting the context was the question about Clarke.
