That was disappointing because it was game over so early on. I wanted to see a good spectacle at least. It was a shock because I think Sydney beat Geelong earlier, and the games between the Cats and Pies and Swans and Pies in the finals were close. Swans seemed happy and a bit surprised to be there while Scott's Cats were hellbent on some sort of redemption narrative.

Dean Brogan said they didn't train properly that week and he wasn't confident in the 'new' squad. Also, Choco was too busy during that week doing press. Although, Port did rebound better than The Crows after their 2017 GF loss, they still haven't returned to finals in 6 seasons, whereas Port did after 5 seasons missing out.

2004... we should of played an earned Prelim at the Gabba instead of at the MCG and untimely injuries to Jonathan Brown, Alistair Lynch and Shaun Hart caught up to us in the 4th quarter unfortunately.

The umpiring in the 2016 GF was nowhere near as bad as people complain about.
Regardless, to debunk the conspiracy, the AFL had more to gain from a Sydney victory than a struggler from the western suburbs of Melbourne anyway.
