Collingwood wouldn’t lose a home final by a record margin and spend the subsequent Copeland Trophy presentation beating each other off about what an awesome season they had, while broadsiding fans who were critical of the coach.

You can make money and genuinely strive to be the best at the same time, but that would involve key figures falling on their own swords in the name of renewal (as Eddie McGuire, Nathan Buckley and Ned Guy all did in 2021), rather than continue to insist they’re the smartest in the room and everyone who suggests different is an idiot/saboteur/has a hidden agenda.

You don’t have to win anything to be successful.
There’s enough supporters/members buying into the game day experience bs to keep the likes of Koch and co employed.
A check on any social media will reinforce that.
If we had North numbers I can guarantee you we wouldn’t be having this discussion.
Appearing to be financially secure has extended there existence well beyond its time.
They believe flags are something you fly on Anzac Day.

I understand the point you’re making.

I don’t agree with the blanket statement that all clubs agree with the belief of the d¡ckheads we have running things.

The sh¡t clubs with no ambition do.

Excuse my ignorance but why does the club need to make big profits?

Like who gives a **** if we become the New York Yankees or Knicks if there are no premierships to show for it?

The answer is simple, you make money and the clowns running the show keep there jobs.
Carlton haven’t won fk all in almost 30 years but have over 106,000 members.
You don’t have to win anything to be successful, you sell the dream and there’s enough people out there buying it.

We run a stability model with stale people which doesn't win you flags, we are anti rebuild because we are petrified of slashing changes and returning to bleak times.
You've gotta be willing to take risks in professional sport you miss a window or multiple in Ken's case you have to change, it might go to shit before you rebound but without biting the bullet you'll never be in the premiership business.

PAFC Just happy to be here.

Yes but Carltons dream is we will win a flag one day. Our dream is we will celebrate for no reason and just play pretend success.

So, I've decided as of now I am officially no longer concerned with the 'Australian Football League'. I hate this competition with a passion, there are so many inequities it defies all logic. I hate this club, happy to swim in mediocrity for so long, I pump money in for what reason? So these wannabes can continue their idealic lifestyle of just existing?

The big deal for me though is the competition as a whole. It just doesn't make sense for me to support a club that is not playing on a level playing field. Tell me why Port should be able to succeed against someone like Collingwood who play 17 games at the MCG. It's totally nonsensical and I only realise now what an idiot I have been all these years. So I'm officially done. The AFL is ****ing shit. Enjoy it if you can because I feel I won't be alone with this sentiment in the next few years. This will be my first year since I can remember that I don't watch a single game. It's not even the same sport I grew up watching.
Nice tirade. I agree with all of this.

I'm anti re-build but with a third rate coach it doesn't matter either way.

Haven’t been a Member (after being one since Port joined the AFL and a supporter long before that) for around 3 years now. Don’t miss it and will only get a 3 game membership when Hinkley finally goes. And that is more for the pre or post game meal / wander round town with the eldest.

It’s a VFL in all but name. Yes non-Vic clubs have won flags, but about only a third or half the number that non-Vic clubs ‘on averages’ should have.

The one that really grinds my gears is, even outnumbered, the non-Vic clubs could band together and publicly call out all the blatant Vic only rules / attitudes. I’ve said it before, but Port wanting to wear the Prison bars when we want, was/is an obvious one for the non-Vic sides to rally around. The issue shows ALL non-Vic states (and therefore clubs within them) are second class. All non-Vic clubs should be standing up and saying ‘Hey Victoria, you and your history isn’t the only one that matters’. Instead it’s ambivalence or with Adelaide outright hostility. Instead of the non-Vic clubs standing behind each other on all the issues against the Vics, even if not directly affected, they let the others be picked off, then wonder why they get no support when it’s there turn against the VFL.

I’ll give it to the Vics, they are good at presenting a united front when anything could affect them. Non-Vic clubs let themselves be divided and conquered and wonder why things never improve.

Every year I watch less & less non-Port games because I hate the way the Afl run the game. They're a corrupt, hypocritical organisation & I find it difficult to keep supporting that. I also hate the celebrity nature of commentators these days & their blatant biases during games. Don't care what footy legends they are (how many times do we get reminded), just call the game impartially & stop talking about yourselves. It's such a massive turn off.

Spot on. Too much rivalry within each state with just 2 teams so it never gets beyond that. Could be a powerful block but probably never will be.
