Clarke's job on Gaff allowed our midfield to dominate. He almost beat him one-on-one too. Would like him to go to Burgoyne this week. Keep him quiet and then run him off his feet on the counter. Clarke's an elite runner and IMO we could use him to exploit Burgoyne who has looked a bit slow this year.

Smith would be a chance to get the tag as well

Had 22 himself at 95% efficiency. Gaff was hardly noticeable which would suggest Clarke did well.

I'd just go one-on-one with Smith. Hasn't been hugely effective this year.

Reid is clunking them. Buddy is back, Menzel looked better last week.
Giving the kid an extended break over the bye is probably the best for him too IMHO.
Go to the magoos and learn to kick a bag.
He'll be a 200 game player for us if he keeps his head on straight and keeps working at it.

Gaff had no influence courtesy of the Clarke tag and has quelled other stars in recent weeks, he stays. Henderson is the one having a huge season for the Hawks, could be Clarke's target more than Smith who's been ordinary or the ageing slowing Burgoyne.

Weather probably influences some of these selections, if it's wet Hayward and Menzel's ball handling in the forward line becomes critical, Don't want to be too tall. Blakey is one of the best ground ball players in the team.

Why drop McCartin? Probably just means Buddy and Reid are less likely to be effective.
