Why drop McCartin? Probably just means Buddy and Reid are less likely to be effective.

I'm guessing either because it's wet, or because he just wasn't doing enough compared to Rose who was playing forward and contributed more last time.
I'm not a massive fan of it as I would rather McCartin over Rose but can't blame Horse really

So glad Menzel kept his spot, he was recruited to play AFL and not NEAFL. Bad luck for McCartin but he has plenty of time.
I thought McCartin would go out. I'm sure the coaches would like to see him in but with Hayward coming in, we can't have all of the normal guys in. We're tall enough with Reid, Franklin, Menzel and Blakey.

I love Hayward but has he really done much this season? If anything McCartin has done more.
Menzel and Blakely are mobile anyway they may be tall but they play small

Really excited to see what Jones & Florent can do playing in the same midfield. O Flo had a slow start to the season when Jones was killing it so we haven't really got to see much of how they affect our midfield when they're both up and about. Having two blokes in there who can win the ball and take it away at full pace makes a massive difference.

I’d have played him over Hayward who for mine could benefit from a run in the twos.
Hayward hasn't had a brilliant year but he's definitely had more impact than McCartin imo. Nothing against McCartin, his time will come but I'd rather Hayward's smarts with the ball and tackling in the side given we have a bunch of other talls to bring the ball to ground as it is.
I'm glad Rose got another shot too, pointless to drop him after one game, give him a go for a few weeks. And very glad Menzel is still in. I want to see him and Franklin work together as much as possible.

No way has McCartin done more than Hayward.
Wilba was second in our goalkicking before he broke his jaw, and was just coming back into that form against Geelong when he got injured again. His only issue this year has just been continuity. It's hard enough for a young forward but when you're having interrupted stints you're not exactly going to be shining. A run in the twos is the exact opposite of what he needs. He just needs to be getting games into him and working into the kind of form that makes him arguably our most consistent source of a goal or two every week.

Personally I’m the other way. I don’t really see Blakely or Menzel as talls though. They both play small. Either way hope Hayward smashes it I do love the bloke (think I had him at 7 in my draft rankings). He’s just having a dip season happens to everyone.
I’m hardly Rose’s biggest fan but he deserves his spot.

After we Qualified for the Euros in 2016 - We Decided as a group to take a Trip to recharge the Batterys
First Decision .... Where to go - Longy wanted Dubai and Sheasie was all for Portugal.
But Big Tractor makes the Decisions and it was obvious for me where to go....
Carrick on Shannon
32 of us piled into a Bus and made the 3 hour journey from Dublin City Centre
We had 450 Cans of Lager on Board and we needed to stop 3 times to get more Drink.
We were off to a flier - We got to Glancys Bar in Carrick - I Perched myself on the High Stool
and i did not move for 3 Days.
on the 2nd day - Door flies open and in walks Davy Fitz and Joe Brolly
Staunch Sporting men - they sat beside me and did not put their hands in their pockets for the night.
Miwadi Blackcurrant.... my treat
It was after the 2nd Shandy that Brolly brought up Davys problem with referees
and a shemozzle broke out - 8 stitches , 2 Broken Teeth and a Fractured Jaw later and the lads were singing
Scorn not his Simplicity in the Smoking Area out the back.
Batterys fully recharged ... we were ready for France

Clarke's job on Gaff allowed our midfield to dominate. He almost beat him one-on-one too. Would like him to go to Burgoyne this week. Keep him quiet and then run him off his feet on the counter. Clarke's an elite runner and IMO we could use him to exploit Burgoyne who has looked a bit slow this year.
