Re: Injury & Suspension Reports & Discussion

Jonathan Brown(Brisbane) still recovering from a knee infection but should be fine for round 1.

And Max Bailey(Hawks) managing his troublesome knee problems after he experienced a bit of swelling after an intra club match nearly a month ago.

Re: Injury & Suspension Reports & Discussion

Some more injury/suspension news:

  • Not sure if its a sign of things to come but young WCE recruit Darling has been internally suspended/dropped for coming to training late.
  • Martin's (Crows) knee injury isn't as bad as first thought.
  • Hodge and Bailey (Hawthorn) are still under injury clouds
  • Maxwell (Collingwood) to be out for possibly a month.
  • Hansen and a young recruit (North) have had injury scares.
  • Jamison (Carlton) has been suspended for 2 weeks.
  • Kennelly (Swans) should be fit for round 1. Potentially higher scores with Malceski injured.
  • Rodan (Port) is worried about his LARS reconstruction and the possibility of recurrence following Malceski's injury.
  • And a bunch of other players will return this week for the final hit out before Round 1.

Stars back for final round of practice matches
Al Paton From: Herald Sun March 07, 2011 10:56AM

BIG names including Paul Chapman, Jimmy Bartel and Daniel Kerr will return for the final weekend of practice matches.
The Cats played a half-strength team against Port Adelaide on Friday night but stars Joel Selwood, Corey Enright and Andrew Mackie will be back against Carlton on Saturday.

Jimmy Bartel is also ready to resume after missing two weeks after his tonsils were removed, and Geelong is hopeful Cam Mooney, Paul Chapman and Joel Corey will play their first pre-season games.

Gun West Coast midfielder Daniel Kerr is a chance to play against Fremantle, while Eagles coach John Worsfold must decide whether to play ruckman Dean Cox in a fourth practice match in a row or rest him and leave a rookie to ruck against Dockers giant Aaron Sandilands. Nic Naitanui is almost certain to miss after hurting his shoulder in the Eagles' NAB Cup semi-final defeat.

The Eagles will also play young forward Jack Darling, who was reportedly left out of the NAB Cup team after showing up late to a beach recovery session.
Fremantle coach Mark Harvey has flagged he will play a full-strength team including Matthew Pavlich, Stephen Hill and David Mundy, who have all had limited pre-seasons.

Re: Injury & Suspension Reports & Discussion

Much like cullinan you have to feel for him... If it's serious. But from a sc point of view it's nice to force coaches into a bit more diversity... He was in every team! This will just make people think harder about structure ;)

Re: Injury & Suspension Reports & Discussion

Could be a good downgrade option if he out for 6-10 weeks.

Both Callinan and Mzungu are going to be downgrade blessing when they return in 6-10.

Those early duds will free up some great cash for some decent trades

Goodish news for Selwood owners (me included).

GEELONG coach Brad Scott says Joel Selwood has not been ruled out of the Cats' clash against Fremantle on Saturday night, eight days after being knocked out cold in a sickening Round 1 collision.
Selwood was believed to be unconscious for three minutes after he collided with Saint Farren Ray at the MCG last Friday night.
The acting Cats skipper received 14 stitches to the mouth but scans cleared him of brain damage and bone fractures.
Scott said this morning Selwood had suffered no ill effects from the hit and would be tested later this week before the Cats fly to Perth to tackle the Dockers.
He said doctors would make the final call on the star midfielder.

Definitely concussed as far as I know but it has more to do with recovery i'm pretty sure. Headaches and brain function more than anything else but by the sounds of it, he's ready to go. On his twitter, he was saying he felt great and looked worse than he felt the very next day which is pretty amazing.
