Do they realize how much more difficult they’d be to argue against if they didn’t always have this weird compulsion to occupy a totally imaginary moral high ground?

They just can’t admit they hate the Orange Man so much that they want to see him locked up no matter what it takes.

It’s the same way they couldn’t admit that the reason they supported vaccine mandates was because they enjoyed watching unvaxxed people suffer. They had to pretend that the unvaxxed were a direct risk to their safety — an obviously laughable premise and one which none of them actually ever believed.

The psychology of it is so intriguing, how they can just lie to themselves so freely.

Well, we do know that is these latest indictments are not thrown out or the case does not end up going to court via congressional action etc, the legal team for Trump were claiming they now get to relitigate the 2020 election but this time with Subpoena power so they will have more clout to bring in people they need to bring in - should make for fascinating watching especially if they push to have the trial public so everyone can watch

I have relatives in Europe. It is tradition by everyone to go out into the forests and collect mushrooms.

Nobody is disputing they will have to prove it. He's going to have a hard time proving it wasn't wilful though. Read the indictment. It includes a mile long list of advisors who told Trump he lost the election. They have him privately acknowledging he lost the election. They have him saying that Sidney Powell (Kraken lady) was a crackpot. They also have testimony from the Vice President saying that when he told him there was no grounds to overturn he election, Trump told Pence "you're too honest".

Let's be honest though Pete, he could be found guilty in court and you guys will immediately pivot to the arguing the court itself is corrupt. Right wing media are already telegraphing this.
